About The Position

The Director I, AP Chemistry Curriculum and Assessment at College Board is responsible for overseeing the quality and validity of the AP Chemistry program's core deliverables, including the exam, course curriculum, and professional development content. This role involves collaboration with subject-matter experts, training educators, and managing assessment development processes to ensure alignment with higher education expectations. The director will also engage in strategic growth initiatives for AP Chemistry and represent the program in academic discussions.

Requirements

  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment in a secondary or higher education context.
  • Strong understanding of AP Chemistry content and pedagogy.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage assessment development processes.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in training educators and subject-matter experts.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with psychometric principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with educational technology and online assessment tools.
  • Previous experience in a leadership role within educational organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an assessment leader for AP Chemistry, responsible for assessment development.
  • Author and revise assessment content, training educators on best practices.
  • Lead the development and management of assessment content and scoring materials for AP Chemistry.
  • Conduct meetings with the AP Chemistry Test Development Committee.
  • Train and supervise Test Development Committee members in content development.
  • Facilitate scoring of student responses at the annual AP Reading event.
  • Contribute to discussions on assessment standards and practices within the AP Curriculum & Assessment team.
  • Support assessment workstreams within the AP Science department.
  • Contribute to initiatives for refining exam design and question task models.
  • Monitor and improve exam validity, security, reliability, and quality.
