About The Position

The Director of Human Resources at New Jersey City University is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the daily management and operations of the Human Resources Department. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Administration & Finance, the Director will coordinate various HR functions including talent acquisition, talent management, compensation, HRIS, analytics, and administration. This position requires a strategic approach to the design, communication, and administration of HR programs, policies, and plans, ensuring that all HR activities are delivered in a timely and professional manner to support the university's mission and goals. In this role, the Director will supervise and train HR staff, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures while fostering a collaborative environment between internal departments and HR. The Director will also be responsible for reviewing federal and state guidelines to ensure the university's compliance with all relevant regulations. A key aspect of the position involves creating strategic HR plans and resource allocation, providing guidance on HR policies, and assisting university staff in resolving HR-related issues. The Director will oversee the talent acquisition process, including salary approvals and recruitment strategies, and will lead initiatives focused on leadership development and learning. Additionally, the Director will manage job classifications, employee compensation, and the administration of HR systems such as PeopleSoft and Taleo. The role also includes handling employee relations, complaints, and investigations related to sexual harassment and other employee issues, ensuring a fair and compliant workplace.
