About The Position

The Director of Human Resources for Operations at Gate Gourmet is a strategic leader responsible for developing and implementing HR strategies that align with the operational goals of the business unit. This role involves partnering with the General Manager and leadership team to enhance operational performance, manage employee relations, and oversee HR personnel. The Director will also focus on workforce planning, employee engagement, and compliance with labor relations, ensuring a positive work environment and effective HR practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university required; Master's in a related field or MBA preferred.
  • Eight to ten years of experience in progressively responsible human resource roles, with at least five years in Labor Relations/Union and Employee Relations.
  • Five years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience in transportation, hospitality, manufacturing, or food service environments is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of state and federal employment law.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with business leaders.

  • Experience with Affirmative Action compliance is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Operate as a strategic business partner with the General Manager and leadership team to understand business objectives and identify human resource strategies.
  • Develop and implement human resource strategies, tactics, programs, and processes to enhance operational performance and efficiencies.
  • Partner with operations and recruiting functions to identify and understand workforce needs and improve local recruiting strategies.
  • Develop programs that support employee engagement and retention.
  • Lead unit-wide human resource strategies, programs, and processes.
  • Manage all unit human resources personnel and oversee local labor relations matters.
  • Supervise investigations and responses to employment-related claims from government agencies.
  • Coach management on employee relations, engagement, and compliance issues.
  • Identify training and development needs and implement related programs.
  • Manage the performance management process and talent review process.
