About The Position

Purpose The Director, Health Informatics – Enterprise provides leadership and establishes operational direction for a comprehensive Health Informatics program, maintaining an enterprise systems approach for health information technology and health information, representing the needs and requirements of the organization. With a focus on interdisciplinary health care delivery, clinical practice enabling the transformation consultation and coordination for the transformation of care processes and outcomes for the Trinity Health in the context of Informatics. As a partner for transformation and in collaboration with Trinity Health Executive Leadership across the care continuum, operates as a key driver for implementing strategic health informatics objectives and serves as a change champion for complex clinical projects and health information technology. The Director, Health Informatics – Enterprise facilitates the integration of data, information, knowledge and wisdom to support patients, consumers, and multidisciplinary teams in clinical decisions, advancing standard work in support of evidenced-based care delivery across the continuum. Serves as the bridge between clinical practice and health informatics supporting efficiency and effectiveness for end users, with the primary goal of advancing evidence-based practice. Impacts health information technology beyond patient care delivery and clinician workflow to include the operations of the health system that ultimately reflects performance in quality, safety and financial measures. In addition, this role serves as a member of the Health Informatics and Analytics Executive Leadership and collaborates with internal and external leaders such as the System Chief Health Informatics Officer (CHIO) Service Area (SA) Vice President and CHIO, Regional Health Ministry Leadership, System Office Leadership and other Senior Executive Leaders to transform and lead change systematically ensuring alignment with system-wide goals in advancing care and effective stewardship through people, process and technology for health systems across the care continuum. Requirements

  • Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of Health Informatics through a combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree with the focus on Health Informatics or related discipline required.
  • At least 8 years of comprehensive work experience consisting of leadership in health informatics roles as well as enterprise/national level experience at a multi-hospital system.
  • Proven track record in leading the implementation of HIT and health information system projects in acute and ambulatory venues, performance/business process improvement activities, including analyzing clinical workflow processes utilizing continuous process improvement methodologies to ensure the delivery of excellence in patient care.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading transformational change, including knowledge and use of change leadership models and process redesign.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification from a national informatics certifying body preferred.
  • Fellowship, academic courses, or other formal training in Health Informatics preferred.
  • Master’s Degree in Informatics or related discipline preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Providing advice, guidance, and leadership to RHM and ministry leaders in developing strategies and in the achievement of performance goals.
  • Enable Collaboration across and within service area, RHM, and ministries to ensure consistency and integration of strategy and operations
  • Providing advice, guidance, and leadership to RHM, and ministries.
  • Leading standardization/systemness and optimization of policy, process, methodology, establishing a national community of practice
  • Oversee Vendor/Contract Labor Management including centralizing strategy and optimizing spend
  • Collaborates in system-wide strategy development and deployment of functional area priorities and initiatives
  • Responsible for supporting regional efforts to comply with functional area priorities
  • Accountable for the selection, evaluation, and overall success of the functional leadership teams
  • Organization-wide focal point for establishing functional strategies and governance over financials and staffing
  • Accountable for communication between RHM and ministry leaders
  • Responsible for measuring and reporting KPIs/metrics and value delivery
  • Providing advice, guidance, and leadership for the colleague life cycle
  • Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, state & local laws/regulations, Trinity Health Integrity & Compliance Program & Code of conduct, as well as other policies & procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical & professional behavior.
