The Director of Grants, Research, & Sponsored Programs at Coppin State University is responsible for overseeing the administrative activities related to externally funded grants and contracts. This role involves identifying funding sources, conducting institutional reviews, and ensuring the proper sign-off of proposals. The Director will negotiate contracts and develop research policies that align with the university's strategic goals. The position requires a proactive approach to generating financial support by identifying, researching, cultivating, and soliciting federal, state, and private funding sources. In this role, the Director will lead the application process by establishing timelines, identifying principal investigators (PIs), and coordinating submission materials. The Director will serve as the liaison between Academic Affairs and the Division of Institutional Advancement, working collaboratively to ensure compliance with corporate, foundation, and government funding requirements. The position also involves working closely with faculty, staff, and administrators to develop grant applications that support institutional priorities and scholarly activities. The Director will be responsible for proactively researching grant opportunities, reaching out to faculty and campus partners, and supporting the submission of applications. This includes collecting information, drafting, and editing major proposals submitted by the university. The Director will monitor the progress of approved applications and communicate with funding sources through quarterly, annual, and final reports. Additionally, the role requires collaboration with the business office to create and manage grant budgets, guiding strategic research initiatives, and ensuring the timely delivery of research findings. The Director will also participate in Academic Affairs department meetings and take direction from the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, performing additional responsibilities as designated by them.
