Purpose: In this role, the Director, Global Real-World Evidence will drive the development and execution of industry-leading RWE strategies and evidence generation across the J&J Global Commercial Strategy Organization (GCSO). This role uses deep scientific and industry knowledge to find RWE growth opportunities within GCSO and beyond, and turns strategies into action. The Director works with cross-functional teams to enhance global launch readiness through evidence-based decisions and investments, and manages key partnerships with groups such as Global Medical Affairs, Market Access, Marketing, Epidemiology, J&J Technology Data Sciences, R&D Data Science, and regional medical affairs teams.

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree in public health, health economics and outcomes research, epidemiology, (bio)statistics or related quantitative research fields is required. A Doctorate or other advanced degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 8 years post-graduate experience in the healthcare industry, preferably in RWE, epidemiology, HEOR, healthcare data science, evidence generation in medical affairs/market access environment.
  • Demonstrate fluency in advanced statistical methodologies and emerging approaches in RWE research, with strong knowledge of the latest methodological advancements such as AI, machine learning, and causal inference to advance evidence generation.
  • Proven track record in conducting observational research (prospective and retrospective), including study design, database assessment, protocol development, study execution, dissemination and scientific publication.
  • Working knowledge of global healthcare landscape across key international markets
  • Strong communication and presentation skills that can communicate research concepts and statistical results to both technical and non-technical audiences are required
  • This position requires a highly motivated individual with excellent time management, skilled at managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in working in a matrix team environment is required
  • This position is based in Raritan, NJ, and will require ~15% domestic or international travel.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the development and implementation of global Real-World Evidence (RWE) strategies and evidence generation initiatives. Key responsibilities include formulating research objectives, ensuring cross-functional alignment, designing comprehensive study protocols, evaluating research methodologies, overseeing data collection and analysis, and efficiently communicating and disseminating findings through publication. These activities support medical adoption and enhance product differentiation for key assets across multiple therapeutic areas.
  • Serve as the Global RWE team's representative and subject matter expert on cross-functional and cross-regional teams, developing strong collaborations with Global Medical Affairs, Global Market Access, and other evidence generation partners.
  • Lead the creation of global RWE strategies and ensure their integration into the Global Integrated Evidence Generation Plan (IEGP).
  • Oversee execution of complex RWE programs on a global scale. Manage budgets, internal and external service providers, vendor contractors, timelines, data quality, and deliverables.
  • Establish and/or contribute to internal governance, processes, and training, and standardization of fit-for-purpose RWE generation.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, legal, and commercial requirements in the conduct of RW Research and dissemination of scientific information.
  • Lead the coordination and execution of Evidence Labs, facilitating research concept development and stakeholder alignment through the worldwide IEGP process.
  • Shape and evolve organizational standards, best practices, and internal RWE capabilities across functions and regions.
