Headquartered in San Jose, California, we operate worldwide through a network of R&D, manufacturing, and sales locations. The Global Payroll Director will join our Finance Team to manage the daily operations of the international and US payroll teams to ensure all payments are made to approximately 4500 employees in 24 separate payroll processes in 16 countries, ensuring accurate, timely processing. The Global Payroll Manager will manage all aspects of the global Payroll operations (vendors, systems, processes and integration) with overall responsibility for driving timely, accurate, and compliant payrolls, streamlining processes, providing quality customer service, and implementing new country payrolls as needed, in accordance with local country laws and regulations. A major expectation of the role will be integration of payroll functions following our recent acquisition of Oclaro, and working with Human resources to transfer ownership of payroll in several regions from HR to Finance. In addition, reporting and process harmonization for global payroll as current software and processes are 24 disparate and unique processes across 24 separate entities. The ideal candidate is one who demonstrates a strong knowledge of Global payroll related to technology solutions and processes. Advanced analytical and reporting skills. High degree of confidentiality relative to all payroll information and employee privacy initiative. Flexible to work across organization. Flexibility to work across multiple time zones.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10+ years global payroll experience with at least 5 years of proven international management/leadership responsibility
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or similar
  • Knowledge of multiple payroll applications including, ProBusiness, ADP, WFN, SAP, Oracle, Workday
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of payroll related technology solutions
  • Strong aptitude and proficiency in MS Office products; including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Advanced analytical skills required
  • Public company working experience, M&A experience a plus

  • Certified Payroll Profession (CPP) certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage Worldwide staff of 8-12 Managers and Payroll Administrators, as well as numerous third party vendors that manage payroll in smaller locations
  • Oversee the production of all weekly, monthly, and special compensation payroll runs.
  • Interpret pay policies (LOA, disability, worker's compensation, vacation, bonus, etc.) and ensure appropriate amounts/deductions are applied correctly to various earnings codes in compliance with all local, state, and country based laws.
  • Review and approve all payrolls
  • Ability to recruit, motivate, and retain a WW team and manage it to success
  • Perform payroll analysis as required.
  • Oversee and participate in pre- and post-payroll auditing/reconciling procedures and troubleshoot anomalies.
  • Establish record keeping and control systems to provide internal safeguards
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from senior executives, stakeholders, and cross-functional business leaders
  • Lead, recommend and participate in projects to continually review and improve current processes as well as to help transition to new payroll providers
  • Desire and ability to work closely and collaboratively with other members of senior Finance leadership team
  • Excellent analytical, written, oral, organizational, and presentation skills to influence company leadership and decisions at all levels
  • Partner with other areas in Finance, as well as Human Resources, Equity, Tax, IT, and other departments as necessary for reporting, compliance and strategic analysis.
  • Monitor and oversee any and all internal and external audits
  • Perform SOX review to ensure payroll processes are compliant with established department controls
  • Assist with ad hoc payroll projects as needed, as well as any ad hoc reporting, analysis, and reconciliation of people data as required.
  • Partner with Equity Administrator to manage the accurate treatment and posting of stock transactions.
