This Role is Tailor-Made for You Because: The Director of Corporate Merchandise Planning is responsible for developing and executing strategic merchandise plans that drive financial performance and align with brand objectives. This role oversees forecasting, assortment planning, and margin optimization across categories, ensuring data-driven decisions that support growth and profitability. The position requires strong analytical capabilities, leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including merchandising, production, finance, and retail operations. The ideal candidate combines strategic vision with operational excellence and thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with experience managing a direct report.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in retail planning & allocation, with experience in a leadership role managing others
  • Extensive knowledge of merchandise planning, retail strategy, and financial forecasting
  • Leads activities that drive strategic merchandise planning and margin optimization across multiple categories for the Outlet business
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate factors that could influence strategy, proactively adjusting plans to mitigate risk and capitalize on opportunities
  • Strong executive presence and ability to influence at all levels, including C-suite
  • Advanced analytical skills paired with a strategic mindset; ability to translate complex data into actionable insights
  • Advanced-level proficiency in Excel, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, and modeling for financial and inventory planning
  • Demonstrated ability with storytelling and strong presentation skills to clearly articulate insights and recommendations
  • Proven ability to balance process deliverables and timelines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to act as both a “player” and a “coach,” fostering team development and accountability
  • Demonstrated success in building strong cross-functional partnerships, influencing peers and senior leaders to achieve shared business objectives

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute long-range merchandise strategies aligned with company objectives for the Global Outlet business.
  • Build and manage IMU targets for production and product development partners.
  • Forecast annual category, class, and style-level projections to support financial goals.
  • Prepare and present monthly forecast reviews to senior leadership, including the CFO.
  • Analyze sales, margin, and inventory trends to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Provide actionable insights to optimize profitability and inventory efficiency.
  • Represent merchandise strategy during market collection reviews and seasonal planning sessions.
  • Partner with merchandising, production, and planning teams to ensure alignment on assortment and pricing strategies.
  • Collaborate with marketing and retail teams to support seasonal launches and market preparation.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement in managing team members.
  • Influence and negotiate effectively across peers, cross-functional teams, and senior management.
