Read more: careers.bms.com/working-with-us. Position Summary The Director, Global Medical Affairs, US Rheumatology is a key member of the Global Medical SOTYKTU, US Rheumatology Team. This individual will lead US medical strategy and launch execution for SOTYKTU in Psoriatic Arthritis, serving as the primary medical liaison between global teams and US cross-functional stakeholders including Commercial, Field Medical, and Market Access. The role balances strategic US market insights, commercial alignment, and evidence generation to support successful product launch and lifecycle management. The Director will partner closely with US Commercial teams to inform brand strategy, support competitive positioning, and enable impactful customer engagement while ensuring scientific rigor. The Director will report to the Director, Global SOTYKTU Psoriatic Disease Lead.

Requirements

  • Advanced scientific or medical degree (MD, PhD, DO, or PharmD)
  • Minimum 5+ years in pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical industry in medical affairs or clinical development
  • Experience partnering with US Commercial and Field Medical teams; ability to align medical strategy with business objectives while maintaining scientific integrity
  • Proven track record in product launches, evidence generation, content development, and/or US medical affairs
  • Rheumatology/immunology experience and understanding of US market dynamics, competitive landscape, and payer environment highly preferred
  • Strong scientific data analysis, interpretation, and communication skills; ability to translate complex science into clear, actionable insights
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement with external thought leaders and cross-functional internal teams
  • Strategic planning and execution in matrix environments with ability to deliver under tight timelines
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills, including presentations to diverse audiences
  • HQ-based position with up to 25% travel (US and global)

Responsibilities

  • Therapeutic Area: Rheumatology, Psoriatic Arthritis
  • US Market & Cross-Functional Leadership: Lead US medical strategy development and execution in close partnership with Commercial, Market Access, Field Medical, and Patient Advocacy teams
  • Serve as medical lead on US cross-functional brand team; provide strategic medical insights to inform commercial planning, competitive positioning, and market access strategies
  • Partner with Field Medical leadership to align medical strategy, support key account engagement, and develop practice-changing initiatives for US rheumatology community
  • Translate US market insights, HCP feedback, and competitive landscape into actionable medical strategies
  • Support US commercial activities including customer engagement planning, sales training development, and medical response to commercial inquiries
  • Medical Strategy & Content Development: Develop integrated medical plans including advisory boards, medical congress activities, speaker programs, and medical education initiatives
  • Partner with Medical Communications to develop high-impact US-focused content including slide decks, response documents, publications, and scientific platforms
  • Collaborate with Commercial and Field Medical teams on content development to support product messaging and differentiation
  • Develop and deliver strategic medical education for internal teams (sales, market access, commercial) and external audiences
  • Evidence Generation & Scientific Engagement: Identify evidence gaps based on US market needs; develop targeted evidence generation initiatives including real-world evidence studies and post-hoc analyses
  • Lead analysis and interpretation of Phase 3 program data and real-world evidence to support US launch
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with US rheumatologists, key opinion leaders, patient advocacy groups, and professional societies
  • Provide expert opinion on psoriatic disease pathophysiology, diagnosis, and unmet medical needs to inform medical and business decisions
  • Budget & Operations: Request and manage medical budgets to ensure strategic execution of US rheumatology activities
  • Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism in all activities
  • HQ-based position; US and global travel expected up to 25%

  • Eligibility Disclosure: The summer hours program is for United States (U.S.) office-based employees due to the unique nature of their work. Summer hours are generally not available for field sales and manufacturing operations and may also be limited for the capability centers. Employees in remote-by-design or lab-based roles may be eligible for summer hours, depending on the nature of their work, and should discuss eligibility with their manager. Employees covered under a collective bargaining agreement should consult that document to determine if they are eligible. Contractors, leased workers and other service providers are not eligible to participate in the program.
