About The Position

The Head of Global HR Operations & Compliance is a strategic and operational leader responsible for building and optimizing the global HR infrastructure that enables business growth, ensures compliance, and prepares Fivetran for future public company readiness and M&A activities. This leader will oversee all aspects of global HR operations, including systems, processes, compliance, payroll governance, and cross-border employment structures. This role partners closely with Finance, Legal, and regional People leaders to design scalable frameworks that ensure our people programs operate with precision, consistency, and integrity across all geographies. This is a full-time, hybrid position based out of our Oakland, CA or Denver, CO office. Our hybrid work model offers a blend of remote flexibility and in-person collaboration, including two days in the office each week to connect and build as a team.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years leading global HR operations or compliance functions.
  • Experience in high-growth, global organizations; public company or IPO experience strongly preferred.
  • Deep expertise in employment law, international compliance, and global entity operations.
  • Proven success leading teams through transformation, scale, or organizational change.
  • Exceptional program management, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and scale global HR Operations across all regions, ensuring efficient, compliant, and consistent execution of core people processes (onboarding, offboarding, employee changes, payroll interface, data management).
  • Partner with IT and systems vendors and stakeholders to utilize and scale our systems, driving automation, reporting accuracy, and integration across systems (Workday, payroll, equity, benefits).
  • Standardize and continuously improve operational processes, focusing on scalability, quality, and employee experience.
  • Develop and monitor HR operations KPIs and service level metrics.
  • Build and maintain a robust global compliance framework covering employment law, benefits, data privacy (GDPR, CCPA), and local labor regulations.
  • Partner with Legal and external experts to ensure compliance in all jurisdictions.
  • Oversee audits, risk assessments, and policy updates across global HR functions.
  • Ensure HR readiness for regulatory filings and due diligence processes related to IPO or M&A activity.
  • Lead entity setup and PEO/EOR expansion strategy to support global growth.
  • Partner with Finance and Legal on employment structures, benefits design, and payroll compliance across new markets.
  • Develop global mobility policies and frameworks that balance compliance, cost, and talent experience.
  • Partner with Legal, Finance, and People leadership to prepare HR systems, data, and processes for public company readiness, including audit readiness, governance, and controls.
  • Lead HR due diligence and integration efforts for M&A transactions, ensuring seamless employee transitions and compliance continuity.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing global HR Operations team that centers employee experience and drives efficiency through metrics, automation, and AI-enabled improvements.
  • Build strong partnerships across People, Finance, and Legal to align strategies and ensure cohesive execution.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the Chief People Officer and executive leadership on all operational, compliance, and governance matters.
