About The Position

Wolfe Research, LLC is launching a new Alternative Asset Management business. Wolfe Alternative Asset Management (WAM) is a strategic expansion of the Wolfe brand into the alternative investment space. It is a membership-based platform offering a menu of curated, institutional-grade investment opportunities across venture capital, private equity, private secondaries, and a broad range of investment funds—including venture, private equity, hedge, and real estate funds—leveraging Wolfe Research’s trusted brand, reputation, and extensive network. Our mission is to deliver unparalleled access to alternative investments, supported by Wolfe’s research expertise and industry relationships, to drive superior, differentiated returns for institutional investors, family offices, and high-net-worth individuals. The ideal individual will have greater than 8+ years working in Fund Accounting to help launch the Alternative Asset Management Business. Keys roles: Serve as the Director of Finance for Wolfe’s Alternative Asset Management Platform. Key stakeholder for the compilation of each SPV for the business. Expected to drive to completion all aspects from a Finance ownership perspective. Should be able to advise the business and internal stakeholders regarding GAAP and Tax considerations. Must demonstrate knowledge of upstream and downstream dependencies and communicate factors which may drive outcomes of how SPV is formed. Expected to oversee and manage the Fund Administrator who will manage the books and records. Expected to review all output from Fund Admin with regard to monthly close/quarterly reporting/annual financial statements. Will oversee and direct the year end K1 process in which our Fund Admin will hand off financial statements to our tax accountants. Expected to liaise and ensure a seamless process serving as the individual to troubleshoot and solve complexities between two parties. Serve as the main liaison with our independent 3 rd party valuation specialist. Should demonstrate ability to comprehend and clearly articulate the valuation when liaising with 3 rd party auditors or Fund Administrator. Responsible for the business’s cash reporting and utilization needs. Expected to work cross functional within the Finance department, engaging our AP, Corporate and Regulatory teams. Will be expected to develop P&Ps for the business and that ongoing Finance operations adhere to the P&P’s. Expected to develop and implement the business line reporting structure. Examples such as: Liaise with Fund Admin for NAV reporting process Develop waterfall reporting Develop profitability analysis of individual SPV’s, business line as a whole Develop reporting for the associated fees earned, when applicable The candidate will serve as a trusted business partner and key operational support to the Head of Alternative Assets, playing a pivotal role in building and scaling the platform from its current stage through maturity. Own core fund accounting functions while taking on expanded strategic and operational responsibilities that extend well beyond traditional accounting—acting in a capacity that blends fund accounting expertise with COO/CFO-level oversight. Develop and maintain the company's financial model, including KPI development, tracking, and reporting; forecast cash flows and provide actionable insights to support decision-making. Manage investor-facing operations, including oversight of the client portal/website for document sharing, financial/valuation/P&L updates, capital activity tracking, capital calls, and ongoing investor communications. Handle ad-hoc reporting, analysis, and special projects with urgency and ownership, demonstrating a proactive, "action-first" mentality essential for success in a dynamic, growing organization. Lead vendor selection, communication, negotiation, and relationship management to ensure cost-effective, high-quality service delivery. Support investor relations efforts, including preparation of communications, responses to inquiries, and coordination of documentation related to investments. Assist in investment-related processes, including financial due diligence (particularly for fund investments), transaction structuring (e.g., designing and implementing fee structures), and ongoing monitoring. Monitor and actively manage company-level business expenses and operating costs to optimize efficiency and support profitability goals. Wear multiple hats as the business evolves—expecting flexibility to take on new responsibilities and contribute across finance, operations, investor relations, and platform development.

Requirements

  • 8+ years working in Fund Accounting
  • Knowledge of upstream and downstream dependencies
