About The Position

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, Foundation Relations, the Director, Foundation Relations is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and management of a portfolio of approximately 100 $100,000+ prospects. This position's work location is fully remote with occasional time on-campus in Brookline, MA. The selected candidate may only work remotely from a New England state (ME, VT, NH, MA, CT, RI). Located in Boston and the surrounding communities, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is a leader in life changing breakthroughs in cancer research and patient care. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 8+ years’ relevant work experience
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational and managerial capabilities, and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks are required
  • Public speaking experience and effectiveness necessary
  • Must exercise significant judgment and discretion in working with prospects and Institute staff

  • Foundation experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and closing of $3M-$5M+ worth of gifts and grants annually
  • Work with Assistant Vice President, high-level management, physicians, researchers, trustees, volunteer leadership, and staff to develop and write proposals for specific research, programmatic, and capital funding needs and to manage overall foundation solicitation efforts and strategy for assigned areas
  • Work with colleagues within the Jimmy Fund, Corporate Partnerships, Annual Giving, Major Gifts, Principal Gifts, and Transformational Giving teams to build, manage, and sustain a major gifts program
  • Meet quarterly and annual fundraising goals as determined by Vice President of Community, Institutional & Annual Giving and Assistant Vice President, Foundation Relations
  • Represent Dana-Farber at off-site presentations and meetings
  • Travel as appropriate to meet with prospects and volunteers
  • Responsible for assisting the entire Division with reaching financial goals
