About The Position
The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) is seeking applicants for an Education Program Director III (Working Title: Director for the Office of Athletics) for our Deputy State Superintendent Office. The purpose of this position is to serve as the point of contact for athletics at the NC Department of Public Instruction and will be a direct report to the Chief Academic Officer. This director is going to be responsible for managing all aspects of athletics for the Department and will support the compliance with the rules and regulations as it relates to athletics. They also will provide support and guidance for school district athletic directors/departments across the state and will provide clarity regarding the established policies and procedures to guide the operation of sports programs. This position will work closely with the North Carolina High School Athletic Association, the Carolina Athletic Association for Schools of Choice, the Superintendent, the Chief Academic Officer, and the State Board of Education. Also, this position will work closely with the Office of the General Counsel in supporting the appeals process activated from challenges regarding NCHSAA decisions.
