About The Position

Hacienda CDC, a trusted community development corporation that strengthens individuals and families through affordable housing, holistic services, and advocacy, is searching for a highly driven Director for Philanthropy & Strategic Partnerships who will champion our organization as they form and sustain connections to push our work forward! When you join the Philanthropy Team at Hacienda CDC, you join a team that is deeply dedicated to the work they do and the communities we serve. Your primary tasks will include creating, planning, and implementing new and alternative fund development strategies, taking the lead in building and growing our fundraising efforts, and developing and securing corporate sponsorships. The ideal candidate will be exceptional at forming relationships and thrive in environments that require creativity and innovation. They understand the ins and outs of the Portland Metro giving community while having a heart and commitment to our communities. They will exude confidence in their leadership, be comfortable with public speaking, and have experience in grant writing, reporting, and contract administration.

Requirements

  • A minimum of seven years' experience in individual and/or corporate fundraising.
  • At least three years’ experience in a lead development role.
  • A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and oral communication in English.
  • Experience using donor software (CRM), Salesforce, and familiarity with the MS Office Suite.
  • The ability to build programs and partnerships in new, innovative ways to achieve targeted goals.
  • Previous experience with public speaking and group presentations.
  • Excellent research, evaluation, writing, and training skills.
  • Knowledge of database management, grant reporting, and grant/contract administration.
  • Strong emotional intelligence, cultural awareness, and sensitivity to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • The ability to travel locally, statewide, and nationally, including the occasional overnight and weekend.
  • A genuine interest and enthusiasm for community development, social and economic justice, and working in a team environment.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable access to a vehicle.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in grant writing.
  • A full understanding of the Pacific NW and/or Portland Metro giving community.
  • Strong leadership qualities and supervisory experience.
  • Experience with local and statewide government policy and budgeting processes.
  • The ability to speak, read, and write Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Create and manage our annual individual donor campaign.
  • Design and lead a philanthropy program that positions the organization as a direct destination for major gifts.
  • Develop and secure corporate and other sponsorships for the organization and program events.
  • Make direct requests to donors, corporate sponsors, and others to support the organization financially or with in-kind donations.
  • Organize our annual fundraising event that engages individual, corporate/business sponsors, and other supporters.
  • Develop and manage the grants calendar and reporting at board meetings on grant submission and status.
  • Coordinate prospecting, writing, submission, and reporting on grants with the grant writer and all departments.
  • Coordinate with executive leadership and board members on fundraising needs and strategies.
  • Assist the Director of Communications to develop and implement a marketing and social media strategy in line with the organization's fundraising strategy.
  • Manage the work of the Grants, Contracts, and Data Manager, and Senior Grant Writer, including complete supervisory duties such as hiring, firing, mentoring, training, disciplining, performance evaluations, and more.
  • Support the CEO in identifying and developing fundraising relationships with individual, government, and corporate sponsors.
