Purpose of Position The Director, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) is a key leadership role on the Finance team. This position leads financial analysis efforts for FlightSafety International Defense (FSID) in support of strategic and tactical decision making by functional leaders and the Senior Leadership Team. This position is responsible for directing and leading the forecasting, reporting, analysis, and budgeting activities for assigned areas, as well as business development pipeline deals and financial return analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business, or related field; or 6 years combination of education, experience, and training in addition to what is listed below.
  • 10 years of relevant experience, including experience working in federal contracting.
  • Relevant experience with government contracting specific tools such as Cobra, ProPricer, Deltek (Costpoint)
  • Strong FAR experience, particularly Part 15 understanding.
  • Ability to anticipate accounting, financial reporting and operational issues, evaluating their business impact and developing a proactive plan.
  • Strong working knowledge of financial reporting, systems and structures.
  • Experience reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts.
  • Ability to act in a collaborative, team-oriented environment focused on common goals to achieve mutually beneficial results.
  • Ability to take a conceptual idea and generate business and financial analysis to influence the outcome.
  • Ability to manage workloads across multiple competing priorities and time-sensitive initiatives.
  • Builds rapport as a business partner, resolving issues together.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the FSID preparation of the Financial plan, including long term business and growth plans for the Senior Leadership Team and Board.
  • Works closely with FSID leadership to understand and align the business strategy with the Financial Plan.
  • Manages the bi-weekly forecasting process, connecting with business partners to gain insight on market, business, and operational direction.
  • Ensures FSI Defense adheres to Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and other related government accounting and acquisition laws and regulations.
  • Develops provisional billing rates for G&A, Overhead, and Corporate Fringe.
  • Provides variance analysis in support of the monthly review of actuals, working in coordination with Finance leadership to ensure effective rate management.
  • Establish and maintain cross functional partnerships to drive strategic cost management, influencing management strategy and decision making to further drive cost management. This will be achieved through timely reporting with relevant and accurate data and recommendations.
  • Continuously identify improvement opportunities for reporting and cost management.
  • Guides and mentors team members who prepare, analyze, and present the operating and departmental actual results, forecasts and budgets.
  • Manages the cost and price buildups for all FSID proposals, including the incorporation of FlightSafety Simulation’s costs. Ensures the price buildup is compliant with government accounting and acquisition requirements including, but not limited to, the requirements under the Truthful Cost or Pricing Data Act (TCPDA, formerly TINA).
  • Manages cash flow analysis for new business opportunities.
  • Owns BOE policies, procedures, and expectations, working closely with the Contracts team to determine sufficiency.
  • Prepares and delivers presentations for both Senior Leadership and the Board of Directors, as well as functional management, explaining financial results and outlook in a manner keeping aligned with the audience.
  • Able to work across the business, influencing mid to long term decisions and driving collaboration.
  • Proactively monitors trends to identify risks and opportunities across key expense categories, communicating trends and issues requiring leadership’s attention.
  • Establishes benchmarks to assist leadership in managing the fiscal discipline of their functions.
  • Implements, monitors, and supports proper financial controls.
  • Mentors and develops a high-performing Finance team.
