About The Position

The Director of Financial and Regulatory Reporting at Royal Bank of Canada is responsible for overseeing major regulatory workstreams within the Governance, Risk, and Controls (GRC) Implementation Office. This role involves ensuring compliance with GRC standards, liaising with various departments, and providing strategic oversight for regulatory reporting and remediation efforts. The position requires strong leadership and program management skills to drive alignment across business functions and enhance the bank's risk management and regulatory compliance capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in banking compliance, risk, legal, regulatory, or related bank regulatory experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of financial services industry experience, with at least 5 years in Compliance and/or Risk Management.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience leading and managing teams.
  • Proven leadership and program management skills to drive alignment across key business functions.
  • Deep understanding and proven ability to build relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, and communications skills.
  • Experience managing or being part of a compliance or risk management team for a large US bank or large Legal Firm.
  • Proven leadership and project management skills to develop and deliver risk management solutions.
  • Deep understanding of risk framework, corporate/business policies, and programs.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and risk management in the financial services industry.
  • Strong program and change management skills.
  • Good communication skills / executive presence.

  • Previous consulting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Drive dependency management between existing regulatory remediations and across RBC US entities.
  • Oversee GRC monitoring of project plans to ensure alignment to US GRC Playbook and Standards.
  • Partner with technology platform enablement team to find opportunities for automation and efficiencies.
  • Develop Board, Management, and regulatory reporting.
  • Provide strategic oversight into remediation approach and execution.
  • Ensure integrated activities across regulatory remediation with senior leaders in the GRC office.
  • Ensure output from remediation activities has traceability back to root causes and regulatory responses.
  • Work consultatively with operational specialists to implement relevant laws and regulations.
  • Interact with regulators to provide key status on regulatory compliance programs.
  • Identify, discuss, and report regulatory compliance delivery progress with senior management.
