Your Role at Baxter The Finance Director, UCAN provides financial leadership for the combined U.S. and Canada Pharmaceuticals and Clinical Nutrition businesses, which have approximately $1.3B in revenue. This role reports to the Senior Director, Finance – ITP Division and acts as the finance business partner (CFO) to the UCAN commercial leader. They direct comprehensive financial support across a highly regulated portfolio. This support includes pricing and contracting decision analysis such as GPO/customer agreements and tenders. They also handle new product launch and pipeline modeling, demand/volume and margin analytics including gross-to-net where applicable, and FP&A processes. Their objective is to deliver growth, profitability, and cash flow commitments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 12+ years of progressive finance experience, including demonstrated ability to build and lead teams.
  • Pharmaceuticals industry experience (preferably in a leadership role) supporting commercial operations in a highly regulated environment. Includes pricing and contracting, new product launch financials, gross-to-net and margin analytics, with cross-functional partnership across Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain, and Regulatory/Quality.
  • Strong business insight and good judgment, with understanding of the relevant business environment.
  • Ability to influence and drive consensus with diverse collaborators; proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Strong negotiation, interpersonal communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP, tax, and legal accounting; acquisition accounting knowledge is a plus.
  • Experience demonstrating shared service resources and leading cross-functional teams as needed.
  • Decisive leader with the ability to generate options, select the best course of action, and drive implementation.
  • Travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

  • Lead analysis and reporting of financial results, including trends and variances to budget, forecast, and prior year. Translate insights into clear management reporting to support day-to-day commercial execution.
  • Provide proactive leadership for all operating forecast updates and deliver the annual operating plan (AOP) and strategic plan.
  • Provide finance leadership for a significant pipeline of new product launches and business development initiatives over the next 2–3 years.
  • Partner with Marketing Analytics to develop product models that forecast and optimize the price/volume relationship across the pharmaceutical portfolio to maintain or expand profitability.
  • Lead financial analytics, modeling, and negotiation support for GPO, customer, tender, and vendor deals.
  • Lead a cross-functional team to improve Canadian compounding profitability as part of a global initiative.
  • Serve as liaison with the Accounting CoE on new commercial models that may require outstanding accounting treatment.
  • Act as a key contact for Investor Relations and support development of external messaging for the U.S. market.
  • Represent Finance on special task forces, cross-divisional teams, and working groups, including business development integration activities.
  • Identify key business risks, perform risk assessments, and recommend mitigation plans.
  • Drive compliance with internal controls, GAAP, SEC requirements, and Baxter financial policies and procedures across all related entities and operations.
  • Develop and lead a high-performing, cross-region finance team with a strong focus on mentoring, development, and succession planning.
