About The Position

The Director, Finance leads Walmart’s enterprise AI and platform economics by defining cost frameworks, embedding cost awareness, and ensuring transparent, value-driven spend. This role is responsible for building a value realization framework that connects strategy, product, and technology investments to measurable outcomes through standardized tracking and governance. You will develop scalable unit economics across platforms, cloud, and AI, and serve as a strategic advisor—translating complex financial models into clear executive insights that inform key decisions. This leader will also build and guide a high-impact team while partnering closely with FP&A and Tech Finance to strengthen investment rigor and capital allocation. About the Team This team leads the evaluation and realization of value from technology and AI investments globally. It drives long-term financial planning by collaborating across functions to align financial targets with enterprise strategy. The team delivers actionable insights, supports budgeting and forecasting, and proactively manages financial risks. By developing advanced financial models and enhancing reporting transparency, the team enables informed decision-making. Working closely with senior leadership, the team plays a critical role in improving business performance and supporting sustainable growth worldwide.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in financial planning, analysis, and strategic finance within complex, large-scale organizations.
  • Proven ability to develop and communicate long-term financial strategies aligned to enterprise objectives.
  • Deep expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, and performance analysis, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Strong understanding of risk management, financial controls, and governance frameworks.
  • Demonstrated success partnering cross-functionally to influence decisions and drive business performance.
  • Experience leading teams and developing talent in a high-impact, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong executive communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics for senior stakeholders.
  • Commitment to integrity, accountability, and high standards of financial stewardship.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field and 5 years’ experience in accounting, finance, or relevant area OR 7 years’ experience i n accounting, finance, or related area.
  • 2 years’ supervisory experience.
  • 2 years’ experience leading and completing cross-functional projects.

  • Own enterprise AI economics by defining cost frameworks and unit economics, embedding cost awareness into design and deployment decisions, and ensuring transparent, value-driven spend.
  • Build and operationalize a value realization framework by defining KPIs that link investments to outcomes, standardizing value tracking and reporting, and enabling comparability for capital allocation decisions.
  • Lead platform economics across cloud, infrastructure, and AI by modeling cost structures, defining cost-to-serve and scale economics, and ensuring consistency across regions and business units.
  • Translate complex financial models into clear, actionable insights for executive leadership, guiding key decisions and trade-offs.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team while partnering closely with FP&A and Tech Finance to improve financial rigor, planning processes, and investment governance.
