About The Position

This position will work with senior management, the Finance staff, and other key leaders to ensure that the clinics, ventures, and associated entities are operating effectively, with sound financial analysis, and appropriate financial and operating controls in place. Accountable for overseeing and managing the financials, budgets, and variance reporting for Beach Cities Orthopedics, including collaboration with the USC Care Central Business Office (CBO) on management of its workers' compensation and lien revenues and receivables. Additionally, accountable for overseeing and managing the financials, budgets, and variance reporting for other entities operating under USC Health Ventures, including collaboration with various management services partners. This includes the analysis of financial statements and other specific supporting schedules, reports, and reconciliations with overall responsibility over the maintenance of financial records and procedures to adequately safeguard the assets of the Hospitals and Clinics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree Business, Economics, or Commerce, with major/emphasis in Accounting
  • 5 years Hospital and/or Clinic accounting/management experience
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and experience with Lawson, budgeting, and other cost accounting systems
  • Highly effective written and verbal skills and ability to multi-task as demands change
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills to effective problem-solve financial and operational issues
  • Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)
  • Certified Public Accountant - CPA Certified Public Accountant required, if no Masters in Business Administration.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the financials of the Beach Cities Orthopedic practice, including daily financial management and support for operations, financial reporting and analysis, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Collaborates with leaders in the Central Billing Office and Business Intelligence to manage Beach Cities Orthopedics workers' compensation and lien billing and accounts receivable management.
  • Provides financial oversight for entities in USC Health Ventures, LLC, in collaboration with Corporate Accounting and third-party management providers.
  • Responsible for daily financial management and support for operations, financial reporting and analysis, budgeting and forecasting, and for reporting financial performance to the USC Health Ventures governance committee.
  • Supports the coordination of the audits of hospital and clinic records and processes with independent auditors, third party auditors, internal audit, and others.
  • Ensures that USC Care is in compliance with all internal policies and relevant regulations.
  • Attends Director/Leadership meetings as needed.
  • Provides ongoing supervision, discipline, training, coaching, mentorship and performance evaluations to staff members.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
