The Director of Fab Quality will lead a team dedicated to driving continuous improvement in the quality and reliability of the products produced at MACOM's internal & external semiconductor wafer fabrication facilities. This role involves developing and directing the implementation of changes to Process Control, Quality Control and Quality Assurance procedures to improve product quality, reliability, yield and cost effectiveness. The Director will also be a practitioner in Six Sigma tools & structured problem-solving and guide institutional learning on these methods.

  • Be a practitioner in Six Sigma tools & structured problem-solving and guide institutional learning on these methods.
  • Work with R&D and Fab Process Engineering teams to perform FMEA and establish quality checkpoints to drive towards zero-defects in production.
  • Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Reliability (DFR) practices in a stage-gate NPI process.
  • Lead failure investigation and corrective action for customer related failures and facilitate customer quality & reliability interactions.
  • Review incoming Foundry material from suppliers to assure compliance to technical requirements and specifications.
  • Member of Fab Change Review Board, reviewing and influencing decision making for any process changes.
  • Communicate quality issues to the MACOM leadership team with recommendations for improvements.
  • Act as a Lead Auditor in the Fab for IATF16949 Automotive and AS9100D Aerospace QMS certifications.
  • More than 20 years' experience with increasing responsibility in Wafer Fab Quality Engineering.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of Reliability Engineering and Qualification procedures (Telcordia, MIL_STD, JEDEC, IPC, etc.).
  • Manufacturing Statistical Process Control, (SPC, Process Capability, DOE).
  • Problem-solving methodology such as six-sigma Black Belt, 8D, or Global Problem Solving.
  • Experience in driving Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Reliability (DFR) in a stage-gate NPI process.
  • Leadership, assertiveness, ability to be a team player with positive attitude.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (both written and verbal) are required.
  • MS in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science or Physics.
  • Due to ITAR regulations, candidate must be a US Person as defined by US Export Control.
