Reporting to the Sr. Director of H & S, the Director of Environmental provides leadership, mentorship, and strategic direction to ensure a compliant work environment across Refresco Beverages’ North American Business Units, comprising 29+ manufacturing facilities in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. Serving as a subject matter expert, this role oversees the development and implementation of wastewater, air, storm water, surface and well water, and hazardous waste programs while driving strategic initiatives to mitigate risks, reduce liabilities, and control costs. Key responsibilities include establishing compliance frameworks, conducting audits to improve adherence to standards and managing the environmental management system.

Requirements

10+ years Management experience applying environmental programs in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent experience preferred. Experience supporting environmental in multi-site locations, including strategy and implementation.
Environmental or chemical engineering degree required.
Experience with hazardous waste regulations.
Ability to research and apply regulations.
Ability to handle confidential information appropriately is imperative.
Proven ability to develop environmental as part of the company culture.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to propose solutions to problems.
Ability to positively and comfortably handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced, changing, high-growth work environment with focused attention for detail.
Must be able to travel, work in a team environment, work a flexible schedule as required, and adhere to and explain Refresco policies and procedures.
Ability to uphold environmental standards, participate in Continuous Process Improvement on the job, and follow our Manufacturing best practices.
Ability to get along with others, be punctual, and follow instructions.
Ability to be on call 24/7 for emergencies.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations (e.g., EPA, state agencies).
Oversee environmental permits (air, water, waste) and ensure timely renewals and reporting.
Manage required environmental reporting (e.g., Tier II, TRI, NPDES, SPCC, stormwater, hazardous waste manifests).
Develop and implement sustainability initiatives to reduce environmental impact.
Lead spill response efforts and ensure compliance with SPCC (Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure) plans.
Ensure compliance with Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act regulations.
Oversee emissions monitoring, control measures, and air permit requirements.
Manage stormwater and wastewater discharge compliance.
Work with corporate leadership to align environmental strategies with business goals.
