Position Objective: The Director, Enterprise Architecture & Quality Engineering, will provide technical leadership, vision, management, and coaching for the Enterprise Architecture and Quality Engineering team. This role calls for a technology leader who excels at managing multiple parallel initiatives, both large and small, with a keen attention to detail. The person must embody a Make it Happen Attitude and be a firm believer in the principles of the Sunbelt 6. Additionally, should demonstrate strong leadership skills, the ability to inspire and motivate a team, and a commitment to fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or other related engineering field, or equivalent experience
  • 12+ years of hands-on experience with IT hardware, networks, software back-end, database, APIs, services, modern web front-end, and mobile frameworks, including 8+ years managing diverse software development/delivery teams and organizations both onshore and offshore and 8+ years of relevant retail or direct-to-consumer digital leadership experience in key disciplines of marketing, eCommerce, Store technology, product management and inventory management, rental equipment field operations
  • Proven track record of shipping technology platforms and applications, delivering large projects with high complexity through the software delivery lifecycle
  • Comfortable in managing within Agile/Scrum environments, Kanban, TDD, BDD
  • Proficient in selecting and leading strategic vendor relationships or acting as the primary point of contact for partnerships
  • Experience with modern frontend (especially JS) frameworks, .NET, Java, C#, mobile (iOS Swift, Android), MuleSoft, MS SQL., Kubernetes, Azure, Airwatch, Google APIs, Microsoft APIs, HTML
  • Proficient in utilizing deep market and industry knowledge for a related portfolio segment or domain to achieve strategic objectives
  • Create a team culture that is committed to collaborative cross-functional relationships and service excellence.
  • Must be able to bend, squat, crouch and/or reach and lift up to 25 pounds or more, as required by the job. Some Sunbelt jobs may require driving for long periods of time, loading and unloading heavy equipment, performing work in extreme weather conditions including rain, wind or excessive temperatures and/or night and weekend work. Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction, mentorship, and guidance to the Enterprise Architecture and Quality Engineering team. Set clear goals, monitor progress, and ensure the team's overall success.
  • Establish and manage the QE team across manual, automated, and performance testing, ensuring it evolves into a top-performing, respected unit within Sunbelt.
  • Establish Enterprise Architecture standards, guidelines, and best practices for the development, deployment, Testing, and maintenance of technologies. Ensure compliance with internal policies, industry regulations, and quality assurance processes.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive technology strategy aligned with the company's business objectives. Identify emerging technologies and trends that can enhance operational efficiency, productivity, and competitiveness.
  • Cultivate robust partnerships with engineering teams to guarantee seamless integration with Enterprise Architecture and Quality Engineering teams for efficient delivery and execution.
  • Build and manage a high-performing Quality engineering team. Recruit and retain top talent, foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, and promote professional growth and development.
  • Partner with external vendors and collaborators to assess, choose, and implement technology solutions that align with the enterprise architecture.
  • Foster strong partnerships and communication channels to drive successful implementation and adoption.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and advances in the Enterprise Architecture and Quality engineering.
  • Evaluate potential technology partners, vendors, or solutions that can drive innovation and improve operational capabilities.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the Architecture and Quality Engineering team. Encourage the identification and implementation of process enhancements, automation, and optimization opportunities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including executive management, department heads, and external partners. Collaborate with them to understand their needs, address concerns, and align Architecture and Testing efforts with overall business objectives.
  • Identify and manage relationships with technology vendors and third-party service providers. Evaluate vendor proposals, negotiate contracts, and ensure the delivery of quality services and solutions.
  • Work closely with finance and executive teams to develop the annual team budget. Provide input on resource allocation, cost estimation for projects, and ongoing expense management.
  • Participate in relevant industry forums, conferences, and professional networks. Stay informed about industry trends, benchmarks, and emerging technologies. Share knowledge and insights with the SBR IT team.
