This role provides strategic leadership and oversight of DDWI’s enterprise application portfolio, including core platforms, business technology solutions, and productivity tools. This role serves as the key liaison between business leaders and vendors, including the managed service provider, ensuring applications support business strategy, compliance, scalability, cost efficiency, and strong user experiences. The Director sets application strategy and roadmaps, leads modernization and lifecycle management, and partners with executives, business owners, and technology teams to deliver secure, reliable, and well-governed solutions in a highly regulated environment. This is a full-time hybrid position based at our headquarters in Stevens Point, Wisconsin (in-office Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday; remote Wednesday and Friday).

Responsibilities

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing enterprise applications team, including managers and analysts, with clear roles, career paths, and accountability.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and modern delivery practices.
  • Define and execute the enterprise applications strategy aligned with business goals, regulatory requirements, and the Business Technology roadmap.
  • Own the application portfolio roadmap, including modernization, rationalization, cloud adoption, and technical debt reduction.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders on application capabilities, risks, and opportunities.
  • Establish application governance, architectural standards, and decision frameworks in partnership with enterprise architecture and security.
  • Manage strategic vendor relationships to ensure performance, security, compliance, and value delivery.
  • Develop and manage the applications budget, ensuring cost transparency, fiscal responsibility, and value realization.
  • Identify and leverage emerging technologies (automation, AI/ML, analytics, low-code/no-code) to enhance capabilities and efficiency.
  • Promote standardization and reuse while enabling flexibility for business needs.
  • Measure and report on application performance, business outcomes, and value using meaningful metrics.
  • Oversee resource planning, skills development, contracts, project prioritization, and cross-functional delivery of technology initiatives.
