Director, Engineering - Subscriptions

In this critical leadership position at Quizlet, you will report directly to the VP of Product Engineering. Your role will involve close collaboration with Business, Product, and Design counterparts, as well as peers in Data Science and Data Engineering, to deliver a world-class consumer internet subscription experience known as Quizlet Plus. This position is hybrid, based out of either our Denver or San Francisco office hubs. You will lead a cross-functional engineering team responsible for critical user-facing features, back-end services, and infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include prioritizing both short- and long-term goals, making architectural trade-offs, and ensuring the team delivers quality results while meeting their deliverables. You will also be expected to build strong partnerships across various functions, including Product Management, Design, and Business Operations, and effectively communicate with different levels of the organization, including the executive leadership team. As a leader, you will be responsible for hiring, coaching, and promoting a diverse and talented team of full-stack engineers and managers. Your leadership will be crucial in contributing to Quizlet's broader success, and you will be expected to strategically develop and implement plans that drive the success of the subscriptions Engineering organization. You should have a strong interest in developing technical and people leaders, supporting their career development, and fostering a results-driven culture focused on ownership and accountability. This role requires infectious enthusiasm about building a highly successful and growing consumer business, with experience leading teams of 15 or more.
