You will be responsible for hiring & leading teams of engineers and for driving innovation in the Cloudera Data Engineering product area. Cloudera Data Engineering is the next generation cloud-native service that helps our customers run large-scale data engineering workflows made up of industry standard big data processing frameworks like Apache Spark, Apache Airflow with just a few clicks on both on-premises and public-cloud environments.

  • Be responsible for all the teams that collectively develop & maintain cloud-native services for various environments.
  • Directly manage a team of senior engineers and managers who run their own teams.
  • Oversee a globally distributed team working across several timezones.
  • Drive software delivery over iterative releases by hiring, managing, and coaching a talented set of individuals.
  • Work with engineering leadership, product management, and customers towards establishing strategic plans and objectives for the product area.
  • Help develop company-wide technical best practices and standards as part of the core engineering leadership team.
  • BE, MS or Ph.D. in Computer Science or equivalent experience in the industry.
  • 10-12+ years of work experience with 5+ years of management experience, including as the head of a department or equivalent level of responsibility.
  • Experience managing large, geographically distributed software development teams (at least 25+ engineers).
  • Strong background in building large-scale distributed systems.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong conviction around how great software is built, and a deep commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to drive the architecture and provide technical vision & direction to the team.
