About the Role: Grade Level (for internal use): 13 The Team : The Ratings team supports credit opinions and market-facing analysis across sectors. We are collaborative, data-driven, and focused on delivering timely , high-quality credit analysis and insights to internal stakeholders and external market participants. The Impact and Responsibilities Impact Provide high-quality credit analysis and sector insight that directly informs ratings decisions and client communications. Serve as a pod lead and subject matter resource for Energy Infrastructure coverage in North America, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and strategic priorities. Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders ( ratings committees, legal, surveillance) and external market participants (issuers, advisors, lenders) to surface material credit information.

Requirements

  • An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 7+ years of extensive experience in credit analysis or related roles , with demonstrated experience in Energy Infrastructure (project finance, utilities, renewables, midstream, or related sectors) in North America.
  • Strong financial modeling skills and experience analyzing project cash flows, debt service mechanics, and covenant structures.
  • Proven ability to synthesize quantitative analysis and qualitative factors into clear credit opinions and committee materials.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to present complex analysis to senior stakeholders and external market participants .
  • Demonstrated ability to lead small teams or pods, mentor junior staff, and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • All employees are required to work from the office a minimum of 2 days per week.
  • We require all candidates who reach the final stage of our interview process to attend at least one in-person interview, which is ordinarily at your nearest S&P Global Ratings office. This must be completed before we can proceed to an offer.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field, or relevant professional certifications.
  • Prior experience working directly with rating agencies or in a ratings environment.
  • Familiarity with sustainable finance considerations and how ESG factors influence Energy Infrastructure credit risk.

Responsibilities

  • Lead credit analysis for Energy Infrastructure transactions and issuers, including financial modeling, covenant and structure review, and scenario stress testing.
  • Produce clear, concise credit write ups , committee materials, and market commentary that translate complex technical analysis into actionable conclusions.
  • Coordinate and mentor junior analysts in the pod; assign work, review deliverables, and provide feedback to develop technical and analytical skills.
  • Monitor market, regulatory, and sector trends in North America and incorporate those insights into issuer surveillance and forward-looking analysis.
