About The Position

Be a vital part of the CentraCare leadership team as the Director of Emergency Preparedness! You’ll have the responsibility in coordinating CentraCare’s Central Operations and Rural Health emergency preparedness, Workplace Violence Program, and the Emergency Communication Center. This position leads integration activities, training and education, development, and implementation of consistent policies regarding Emergency Preparedness and Workplace Violence across the entire CentraCare system. We are looking for some who will strategically coordinate emergency preparedness planning and response as guided by the Joint Commission, Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services, U.S. Dept of Health and Human Services, the State of MN, and other regulatory agencies.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in nursing, community health, administration, social science, or public relations or a minimum of 1 year of experience in hospital operations is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in public health, administration, social science, or public relations preferred.
  • Clinical background strongly desired.
  • Public Health experience is preferred.
  • Certification in Emergency Management is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides and coordinates education opportunities for healthcare facilities that promote a higher level of education around emergency preparedness.
  • Strategically coordinates regional emergency preparedness initiatives by working with hospitals, clinics, long term care facilities, the Minnesota Department of Health, local public health, emergency management, regional EMS, community organizations, and community resources to develop response plans to emergencies.
  • Will research successful response strategies with project participants within the healthcare coalition/healthcare facility that will assure a coordinated response to emergencies experienced in the community.
  • Assesses for health care facility capacity to address or respond to emergency situations or problems when requested.
  • Assures identified strategies, programs and operational plans are implemented in CentraCare healthcare facilities and in the healthcare coalition.
  • Prepares and monitors grant programs to assure objectives are met as set forth in contract agreements.
  • Prepares reports and keeps statistical or data information as required.
  • Presents information to stakeholders, attends training workshops related to emergency preparedness, prevention strategies, and training models.
  • Educates groups about emergency preparedness initiatives through public speaking, such as panel participation, forum presentations, and meetings.
