This job directs emergency medical services and emergency preparedness for the region. Assumes responsibility for managing and evaluating the delivery of patient care services through emergency medical services. Follows established regulations, standards and protocol, as approved by the Medical Director to ensure services are in compliance with professional standards, state and federal and local regulatory requirements. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Additional years of leadership in EMS may be substituted in lieu of degree requirement
  • 5 years of EMS experience, including 3 years of leadership
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
  • Current registration with the National and state Registry of EMT/B or EMT Paramedic.
  • Current class D license by the DHH/EMS in the state of practice
  • Valid license and registration (must be current and valid at all times)
  • Current Defensive Driving Certification
  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Utilizes critical thinking skills while in clinical setting.
  • Must be able to travel throughout and between facilities.
  • Exhibits ability to manage within a budget and understand financial statements sufficient to analyze trends and make recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures quality of care & patient satisfaction through oversight of policies, procedures, and improvement initiatives.
  • Manages, develops, retains and inspires an engaged workforce.
  • Manages and directs management of the Emergency Preparedness function for region.
  • Maintains current and effective EOC Management Plans for Emergency Preparedness and evaluates plans on yearly basis.
  • Designs research, education & training to support cutting edge patient care services.
  • Ensures operational profitability through effective budgeting and resource management.
  • Develops and executes long-term strategic business plans that support business growth.
  • Manages the physical & technological infrastructure and supports organizational structures.
  • Other related duties as required.
  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
