About The Position

The Director of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) oversees the strategic planning, operational management, and delivery of high-quality emergency medical services within the facility and its service area. This role ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations while aligning departmental goals with organizational objectives. The Director is responsible for leading a team of EMS professionals, managing budgets, and fostering collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the effective and efficient operation of EMS services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field required or seven (7) plus years of direct experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in closely related field with Bachelor's degree required.
  • 3-5 years of previous leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and manage cross-functional relationships.
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • In depth knowledge of industry best practices and regulatory compliance (if applicable).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with Google and Microsoft platforms, healthcare software systems, and data analysis tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and oversight for all EMS operations, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality emergency medical care.
  • Develops and implements policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Prepares and manages the EMS department's budget, monitoring expenditures, and identifying opportunities for cost savings.
  • Evaluates the performance of EMS operations and staff, implementing quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery.
  • Collaborates with local emergency management, law enforcement, and healthcare organizations to coordinate services and maintain strong community relationships.
  • Oversees the maintenance and readiness of EMS vehicles, equipment, and supplies to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
  • Monitors response times and operational metrics, making adjustments to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, coordinating inspections and audits as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
