Lime is hiring a Director, Electrical Engineering to join our team. We are seeking a creative, innovative, and knowledgeable engineering manager to join our dynamic Hardware Design team. In this role, you will manage a global team of engineers that specify, develop, qualify, and continuously improve our vehicle powertrain, control, management, and charging systems. This is an exciting opportunity for a globally-minded engineering manager to make an impact building vehicles for a world where transportation is shared, affordable, and carbon-free. This is a remote position based in the United States, with a strong preference for candidates located in San Francisco to support effective cross-team collaboration. Candidates outside the Bay Area should expect monthly travel to San Francisco (typically 2–3 days per month), along with occasional international travel.

  • You have experience developing connected products (bluetooth, wifi, GPS, LTE, UWB, NFC)
  • You are a skilled collaborator who aligns competing goals and enables data driven decisions.

Nice To Haves

  • BSEE or similar with 10+ years of experience managing teams developing novel electronic solutions
  • Interest and,or experience in transportation/small vehicle design
  • Experience with vehicle / motor control systems.
  • Experience with positioning systems (GPS, Bluetooth positioning, UWB, dead reckoning) and developing them to best in class accuracy
  • Experience with optics, camera, vision systems that perform real time object identification using machine learning algorithms
  • Experience developing battery powered, outdoor systems that demonstrate best in class safety

Responsibilities

  • Manage and inspire a high-performance global electrical systems engineering team that develops the industry’s best hardware - now and in the future.
  • Set vision for your team and cultivate leadership within the team to achieve that vision
  • Execute against complex product roadmaps and represent Lime electronics design at all levels of leadership inside and outside the company.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and thought leadership to shape and influence future roadmaps, product architectures, technology investments, partnerships, and product plans.
  • Engage in and support all aspects of the product life cycle management, including concept, development, integration, qualification, manufacturing, delivery, acceptance, field performance, and end-of life.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members to identify electronics system features, functions, and requirements.
  • Provide technical oversight and management of ODM and JDM supplier relationships and projects.
  • Create initial prototypes and concept models of electronics systems with an eye towards practicality and manufacturing feasibility.
  • Stay abreast of new technologies relevant to our industry and implement them when feasible. Continue to self-educate with new technologies.
  • Bring best in class tools and processes to Lime’s electrical systems development including eCAD, schematic capture, simulation, SIPI, PCB layout, PCB fab, SMT, ICT, conducted and OTA RF testing, system validation, and qualification.
