We are looking for a strategic Director of eCommerce & Website Program Management to lead important projects across Cengage’s digital ecosystem. This role provides outstanding visibility and influence to transform how we deliver seamless, customer-focused experiences on our websites and eCommerce platforms. You will collaborate with senior leaders from our Higher Ed, School, Work divisions, Product, Technology, UX, Marketing, and Operations teams. Together, you will align priorities, improve governance, and ensure programs supporting our vision for a unified, scalable, and innovative web presence succeed.

  • Lead Strategic Program Delivery: Guide the planning and rollout of detailed, multi-year initiatives to merge and refine Cengage’s websites and eCommerce platforms. Confirm alignment with business strategies and customer experience objectives.
  • Champion Governance & Roadmap Alignment: Establish clear frameworks for prioritization, decision-making, and transparency across collaborators. Maintain a unified roadmap for web and eCommerce initiatives.
  • Facilitate Executive Communication: Provide regular updates to senior leadership on program health, risks, and achievements. Translate technical and operational details into actionable insights for decision-makers.
  • Manage Vendor Partnerships: Coordinate relationships with external partners (e.g., Method) to ensure deliverables meet scope, timeline, and quality expectations.
  • Drive Risk & Change Management: Identify and reduce risks, handle dependencies, and guide change efforts to support transitions toward a Product Operating Model.
  • Enable Customer-Centric Outcomes: Ensure that all programs prioritize user experience, accessibility, and performance, aligning with Cengage’s dedication to learners and educators.
  • Advance Operational Excellence: Find opportunities to streamline processes, improve collaboration, and embed standard methodologies in program governance.
  • Experience: 8+ years in program management with a focus on digital platforms, eCommerce, or large-scale website initiatives.
  • Strategic Leadership: Ability to influence without authority, driving alignment across senior collaborators and cross-functional teams.
  • Program Management Expertise: Proven success managing complex programs with multiple workstreams, dependencies, and global impact.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Skilled at partnering with Product, Engineering, UX, Marketing, and Operations to deliver coordinated solutions.
  • Vendor Management: Experience managing external consulting or technology partners to achieve program objectives.
  • Risk & Change Management: Skilled in detecting risks, directing organizational change, and carrying out mitigation strategies.
  • Technical Competence: Familiarity with modern web technologies, eCommerce platforms, and Agile delivery practices.
  • Communication & Influence: Outstanding ability to synthesize complex information and present it clearly to executives and diverse audiences.
  • PMP, PgMP, or similar certification.
  • Experience in eCommerce strategy and website consolidation programs.
  • Knowledge of Product Operating Model principles.
  • Background in EdTech or digital learning environments.
