About The Position

The Director of Dining Services I is a strategic business leader responsible for overseeing the food and beverage operations within a community, ensuring high-quality service and resident satisfaction while meeting financial goals. This role involves developing and implementing departmental strategies, maintaining compliance with health regulations, and fostering a positive work environment. The Director will also be the face of the company, engaging with residents and staff to enhance the dining experience.

Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Food Services Technology/Management or related field; or A.A. Degree plus four years of directly related experience preferred.
  • Five to seven years of direct foodservice operational management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of food and catering trends, quality, production, sanitation, and food cost controls.
  • Previous P&L accountability or contract-managed service experience is desirable.
  • Strong supervisory, leadership, management, and coaching skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent financial, budgetary, accounting, and computational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and various computer programs.
  • ServSafe® Certified.

  • Experience in a hospitality food service group.
  • Knowledge of innovative dining programs and venue concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement overall operating strategy aligned with Compass Community Living and client business strategy.
  • Take ownership of driving desired outcomes and hold the on-site leadership team accountable.
  • Evaluate personnel, operations, and culinary situations to make appropriate recommendations.
  • Perform daily walk-throughs to ensure compliance with health regulations and company standards.
  • Direct and conduct safety, sanitation, and maintenance programs.
  • Lead pre-meal briefings and staff meetings for ongoing communication in food and beverage areas.
  • Advise executives and team members on relevant information in a timely manner.
  • Understand market dynamics and align actions to drive business results.
  • Develop and manage the overall budget while maximizing client value.
  • Coach team to manage wages, food & beverage costs, and controllable expenses effectively.
  • Review financial reports to assess performance against budget and develop improvement strategies.
  • Build and maintain relationships with residents and staff to enhance satisfaction.
  • Review resident satisfaction results and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Stay aware of market trends and introduce new products to meet resident expectations.
  • Empower employees to provide excellent service and exceed satisfaction levels.
  • Lead team member meetings and create a positive work environment.
  • Establish performance and budget goals for the team.
  • Solicit employee feedback and address concerns to improve satisfaction.
  • Identify developmental needs and provide coaching and mentorship to team members.
  • Hire food & beverage leadership team members with strong expertise and creativity.
