About The Position

The Director, Data will act as our in-house technical expert, supporting both internal teams and clients, across numerous programs and projects. They will provide guidance on data acquisition, pipelines, and integration while maintaining a mastery of our internal voter and consumer datasets. This role will be responsible for piloting and testing new analytics solutions, strengthening existing processes, and enhancing the analytics services we deliver. The Director, Data will work closely with cross-functional teams and leadership, offering strategic guidance throughout projects to ensure data and insights are accurate, actionable, and aligned with client and project requirements and needs. This role will report to the VP of Insights.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in data management, analytics, or related technical fields, including in-depth knowledge and expertise on voter file data.
  • Expertise in data acquisition, ETL pipelines, integration, and data governance best practices.
  • Experience in one of BlueLabs’ core fields, such as media analytics, data-driven marketing, politics, or market analysis, with familiarity with relevant terminology.
  • Demonstrated success in piloting, testing, and deploying innovative data and analytics solutions.
  • Strong technical skills in SQL and other scripting languages; familiarity with database administration (DBA) and data structures is a plus.
  • Experience with a wide array of commercial datasets and providers.
  • Proven ability to lead high-impact projects independently and with discretion while providing strategic guidance to cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent technical communication skills and strong attention to detail, with the ability to translate technical concepts for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to synthesize complex information and prioritize key deadlines and tasks effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee data acquisition, pipeline development, integration, and maintenance processes and procedures, ensuring efficient, accurate, scalable, and high-quality data operations.
  • Lead the strategy and execution of data integration projects, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and actionable insights for internal and client-facing initiatives.
  • Regularly coordinate with the Vice Presidents of Data Science and Insights to create and maintain data products that meet and expand on the data science and analytics needs across teams.
  • Ensure the quality, accuracy, and fidelity of data products across BlueLabs and serve as the subject matter expert on our data products.
  • Support the development and iteration of our influencer data products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including analysts, data scientists, and client-facing teams, to provide strategic guidance and ensure data aligns with project goals and client needs.
  • Pilot and test new analytics and identity resolution solutions to expand and improve the organization’s capabilities.
  • Provide strategic guidance to improve analytics on client engagements, including base file creation, source-of-truth investigations, data usage and best practices, and code template development.
  • Strengthen and optimize existing analytics processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on data acquisition and pipeline development best practices, exercising judgment and discretion in the design and implementation of data solutions and analytics processes.
  • Establish and maintain best practices for data management, quality control, and documentation.
  • Mentor and develop team members, providing leadership and guidance to ensure excellence in data operations across the organization.
  • Partner with other senior leadership to identify opportunities to improve data acquisition and pipeline development, ensuring new processes, methodologies, tools, and technologies align with company goals and standards.
  • Other tasks and responsibilities as directed and assigned.
