About The Position

We are seeking a strategic, data-driven leader to join our team as Director, Data Science – Last Mile. In this high-impact role, you will lead the development and execution of science, analytics, and strategy initiatives to optimize our last-mile delivery operations. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams—Operations, Product, Engineering, and Finance—to uncover insights, shape decisions, and drive measurable improvements in delivery speed, cost, and customer experience. This role requires a unique blend of analytical depth, strategic thinking, and strong leadership to build scalable systems, guide data-informed decision-making, and help shape the future of our delivery network. Requirements

Strong data analytics expertise and business acumen, with a proven ability to translate insights into strategic action.
Exceptional communication and persuasion skills, with experience influencing at all organizational levels, including executives.
Demonstrated leadership in managing and developing high-performing data science teams.
Deep digital background with a passion for innovation and operational optimization.
Outstanding critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Advanced degree (PhD or MS) in a quantitative field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
Option 1: Bachelors degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 6 years' experience in an analytics related field.
Option 2: Masters degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 4 years' experience in an analytics related field.
Option 3: 8 years' experience in an analytics or related field

Nice To Haves

(Preferred) Experience in supply chain operations, last mile delivery, or related analytics-driven domains.
Masters: Economics
Project Management - Project Management Professional - Certification

Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 3-5 Senior Managers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and high performance.
Set and execute the strategic vision for Last Mile Delivery, leveraging data science to drive business outcomes.
Influence and partner with cross-functional stakeholders, including executive leadership, to align on priorities and deliver measurable impact.
Oversee the development and optimization of advanced analytics, algorithms, and models to improve delivery speed and reduce costs.
Drive the adoption of digital and data-driven solutions to scale Walmart’s in-house delivery capabilities.
Monitor key performance indicators and ensure continuous improvement in delivery operations.
