About The Position

Director Data Engineering - Bank Tech Capital One is seeking a Director, Data Engineering who is equal parts visionary technologist and inspirational leader. This is an exciting role which bridges the gap between legacy reliability and fintech-speed innovation, leading a high-caliber team of engineers to build a world-class data ecosystem. Bank data organization to accelerate data modernization across the bank by defining, building, and operating on a unified, resilient, and compliant Enterprise Data Platforms. Enable bank domains to produce and leverage modern data for a modern bank. The position focused on setting the technical vision, and driving the most complex data transformation for the banking domains. In addition, partner closely with enterprise teams to develop highly resilient data platforms. This leader must have the ability to attract and recruit the industry’s best talent, and simultaneously have the technical chops to ensure that we build compelling, customer-oriented solutions in an iterative methodology. Success in the role requires an innovative mind, a proven track record of delivering next generation software and data products, rigorous analytical skills, and a passion for delivering customer value through automation, machine learning and predictive analytics. Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree
• At least 7 years of experience in software engineering or data engineering
• At least 5 years of people management experience
• At least 3 years of experience with Big Data and data streaming
• At least 3 years of experience with cloud-based data platforms (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform)

Nice To Haves

• Master’s Degree
• 10+ years of experience in software engineering or data engineering
• 5+ years of experience in Data Transformation, Data Standardization, and Data Modeling
• 3+ years experience creating and maturing a Data Architecture function
• 3+ years of experience with Data Lake Infrastructure, Data Warehousing, and Data Analytics tools
• 3+ years of experience with AWS

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and grow multiple teams of product focused software & data engineers
• Embrace and incubate emerging technology and open-source products across all platforms
• Work to modernize our existing tech stacks and data platforms
• Collaborate with internal teams to find areas of opportunities for automation and machine learning
• Partner with architects, product owners, data professionals, and software & data engineers to drive the implementation of new applications
• Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement and support technical solutions across full-stack development tools and technologies
• Lead efforts to deploy new and existing applications into AWS environments and provide operational support for the applications
• Conduct design and code review to ensure compliance with standards
