About the position

BPD is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Data Engineering to lead the Data Solutions & Analytics team. This role is pivotal in managing data integration processes across various products and systems, focusing on designing, developing, and maintaining complex data pipelines. The Director will define the technical vision and data integration strategy, ensuring efficient execution of data pipelines on platforms like Snowflake, Sisense, and Tableau. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering within the marketing or advertising sector, particularly in healthcare marketing, and will collaborate cross-functionally to ensure the success of data solutions and analytics products.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain data architectures and pipelines to integrate and process data from various sources.
  • Utilize technologies such as Python and SQL to develop and maintain complex data integrations with clients and third-party partners.
  • Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and security of data across all systems and platforms.
  • Implement ETL processes to accurately transform and load data into the data warehouse.
  • Streamline and improve the effectiveness of the marketing firm's approach to data structure.
  • Manage data clean room environments for secure data collaboration and privacy-preserving analysis.
  • Oversee the management and optimization of the Snowflake data warehouse.
  • Develop and maintain ETL processes to support data extraction, transformation, and loading.
  • Integrate data from diverse sources and develop data models for analytical and reporting needs.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to implement data-driven solutions.
  • Monitor and maintain data quality through validation and cleansing processes.
  • Lead client requirement meetings and provide solutions for data integration workflows.
  • Oversee data governance and security best practices in conjunction with stakeholders.
  • Monitor data privacy and security, particularly regarding PHI & PII.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and seek opportunities to improve data systems and processes.
  • Optimize data infrastructure for scalability and performance.
  • Manage and optimize existing data engineering tools and platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, data engineering, data science, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering within the digital marketing industry.
  • Proven experience with data engineering tools and technologies such as Snowflake, Python, SQL, and ETL processes.
  • Strong understanding of data architecture, ETL processes, data transformation, data integration, and data governance.
  • Knowledge of relational databases and ability to design efficient data models (e.g., star schema, snowflake schema).
  • Strong programming skills in Python for data manipulation, scripting, and automation.
  • Expertise in SQL for querying and data transformation.
  • Deep experience in digital marketing data processes and infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in creating dashboards using tools like Tableau and Sisense.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Snowflake, Google Data Cloud or Salesforce certifications preferred, but not required.
