As the Director of Data Center Operations Metro at Microsoft, you will lead the delivery of exceptional support services across your designated campus or metro area. This role involves managing relationships with various stakeholders in the data center industry, overseeing operational costs, and ensuring the highest standards of safety, security, and ecological responsibility. You will play a crucial role in supporting Microsoft's cloud services, leveraging your program management, technical skills, and leadership experience to drive success in a dynamic environment.

  • Empower a culture of safety, security, and compliance in all aspects of data center operations.
  • Lead, manage, coach, and develop Microsoft full-time employees across data centers in your Metro.
  • Ensure ongoing IT and Critical Environment (CE) support for all service lines, delivering customer capacity on time and defect-free within SLA commitments.
  • Plan and deliver all supporting physical infrastructure, logistics, and resources required to meet anticipated growth within your Metro.
  • Participate in incident management procedures for major incidents impacting Microsoft cloud services, leading calls with customers and senior leadership, and ensuring timely resolution and post-incident reviews.
  • Manage financial aspects of your metro, including developing detailed budgets, forecasts, and overseeing operational and capital spending.
  • Oversee vendor and partner contracts and relationships, including leased-facility landlords and IT service providers.
  • Collaborate with global and regional management teams to contribute to improvement programs.
  • Promote and embody the One Microsoft culture and values, leading through change.
  • High School Qualification or equivalent AND 10+ years of experience in mission-critical service management (e.g., IT services, manufacturing, military) or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of people management experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including passing the Microsoft Cloud background check and verification of citizenship.
  • 7+ years of enterprise-level experience managing large scale and complex projects/programs.
  • 7+ years of experience in Critical Environment infrastructures (e.g., UPS, Generator, AHU).
  • 7+ years of experience in physical IT infrastructures (e.g., Servers, SANs, Networking).
  • Experience managing budgets of $5M or more.
