About The Position

Health Prime International (HPI) is seeking a Director of Data Architecture & Strategy to spearhead our enterprise-wide data architecture, governance, and data modernization efforts. This is a strategic and hands-on leadership role responsible for building and evolving the data ecosystem that powers business intelligence, advanced analytics, regulatory compliance, and operational performance. Reporting directly to the CPTO, you will define our data architecture vision, lead our adoption of modern Azure data technologies, and ensure secure, governed, and scalable data operations across the enterprise. You will collaborate across product, business, engineering, and compliance functions to drive both near-term outcomes and long-term platform evolution.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in data ingestion, data architecture, data engineering, ETL/ELT Solutions, or analytics platform leadership
  • Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure data stack: Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Data Factory
  • Microsoft Purview (cataloging, lineage, policy management)
  • Tabular modeling (e.g., SSAS, Synapse) and Power BI integration
  • Hands-on experience designing and governing enterprise-scale data lakes, pipelines, and semantic layers
  • Experience enabling AI/ML workflows through data architecture, including support for feature engineering, model training pipelines, and integration with machine learning platforms
  • Strong background in data governance, security, and compliance — especially within healthcare, RCM, or HIPAA-regulated environments
  • Familiarity with DevOps and DataOps, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, version-controlled data workflows, and automated testing for data pipelines
  • Strategic thinking, strong communication, and proven ability to align technical architecture with business priorities
  • Healthcare or Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) domain knowledge strongly preferred
  • Prior leadership of data modernization or cloud migration initiatives in regulated industries
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills to manage workload (verbal, written, presentation/public speaking)
  • Ability to research answers that are not readily available. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work on challenging issues independently or in a team environment
  • Ability to work effectively with international and multicultural teams and with all levels of management
  • Actively embraces change, capable of making timely independent decisions and inspires respect and trust

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve the enterprise data architecture aligned to business goals and scalable, flexible for growth
  • Design, lead, and optimize a modern data lake house environment leveraging Azure Synapse, Azure Data Lake Storage, and Databricks
  • Architect and implement data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Synapse pipelines, and automation tools to support both batch and near-real-time data movement
  • Design and own conceptual and logical data models, data flows, and integration patterns for the Data Lakehouse and consumption data layers.
  • Oversee development of tabular models and semantic layers to support reporting, dashboarding, and analytics consumption
  • Support integration with Power BI, ensuring data accessibility, performance, and security alignment
  • Partner with analytics teams to deliver self-service capabilities on top of governed data assets
  • Lead initiatives to improve the usability, scalability, efficiency, and security of data resources.
  • Develop and own the data architecture roadmap, aligning with product, technology, and compliance stakeholders
  • Act as a strategic advisor to business leaders on data capabilities, platform constraints, and opportunities
  • Mentor and grow data engineers and architects, fostering a culture of accountability and technical excellence
  • Effectively manage global resources and implement a cost-effective geographic resource strategy
  • Champion automation-first principles across data ingestion, transformation, and deployment
  • Collaborate with DevOps to implement CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and automated testing for data workflows
  • Drive continuous improvement in data quality, platform reliability, and cost efficiency
  • Lead the implementation of Microsoft Purview to establish data cataloging, lineage, classification, and access policies
  • Define and enforce standards for data governance, privacy, and security, including HIPAA, PHI/PII handling, and regulatory compliance
  • Create and manage policies for RBAC, encryption, data retention, and other security best practices
