About The Position

As the Director of Authentication, Access Control & Directories, you will report to the Senior Director, Identity and Access Management. In this key leadership role, you will be responsible for the strategy, engineering, and operations of critical IAM systems, including single sign-on (SSO), access control, and directory systems ensuring security and high availability and performance of these systems. The role also requires staying updated on the latest IAM trends and technologies, continuously improving IAM processes, and ensuring compliance with regulations. You will collaborate with senior collaborators across the organization to support business growth and develop a culture of partnership, continuous learning, and ongoing improvement.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in IAM, cybersecurity, or related field, with 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Proven knowledge of workforce IAM principles, concepts and technologies such as: Secure authentication (SSO, MFA, SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect, FIDO, WebAuthN, risk-based authentication, PKI).
  • Enterprise directory services (Active Directory, Entra ID).
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and complete IAM strategies that are aligned with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with experience in recruiting, mentoring, and developing IAM professionals.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the latest trends and advancements in IAM technologies and methodologies.
  • Comfortable leading and participating in cross enterprise initiatives.
  • Proven experience building and leading technical teams.
  • Exceptional social, planning, documentation, and organization skills.
  • Effective communication (proficiency in English language) and social skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with solution owners, engineering directors and other key collaborators.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Possess a solid grasp of software development life cycle and agile principles.

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years of experience in IAM, cybersecurity, or related field, with 5+ years in leadership.
  • Certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Identity and Access Manager (CIAM), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering, or equivalent experience in software engineering.
  • Expertise of modern software lifecycle development and automated cloud infrastructure deployment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the strategy for applicable IAM services, ensuring alignment with other IAM service leaders, business objectives, security requirements, and standard methodologies.
  • Lead a team of IAM engineers and professionals responsible for Single Sign On, Access Control, and Directories (Active Directory and Entra ID).
  • Maintain strong operational security monitoring health through active monitoring of service Key Performance Indicators.
  • Partner with peers across the Cybersecurity and Technology Services organizations to ensure alignment of cybersecurity objectives with business goals.
  • Advise IAM architecture to ensure right tooling and processes are used to deliver IAM solutions.
  • Collaborate with business collaborators to streamline and automate IAM processes to improve efficiency and user experience.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX audit requirements through regular assessments and audits of identity and access management (IAM) systems and processes, maintaining meticulous documentation and controls.
  • Handle external vendor relationships to ensure that service levels are being met.
  • Stay informed about emerging IAM technologies, trends, and standard methodologies to continually improve the organization's IAM capabilities.
  • Be a trusted advisor and mentor to employees, offering guidance on career planning, goal setting, and skill progress.
  • Champion the IAM platform and ensure compliance with all applicable McDonald's policies and relevant data protection regulations, such as GDPR, CCPA, and other applicable standards.
