About The Position

The Director, Critical Care Unit (CCU) is responsible for the overall strategic and operational leadership of the unit. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality patient care, manages resources, and fosters a collaborative environment to support both staff and patient outcomes. The Director oversees all aspects of the CCU, including staffing, budgeting, and compliance with healthcare regulations, working closely with hospital leadership to align the unit's goals with organizational priorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field required or Seven (7) plus years of direct experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree required.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in closely related field with Bachelor's degree required.
  • 3-5 years of previous leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and manage cross-functional relationships.
  • Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • Communicate effectively with leadership, team members, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively with others, delegate responsibilities, and independently manage tasks while meeting established deadlines.
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • In depth knowledge of industry best practices and regulatory compliance (if applicable).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with Google and Microsoft platforms, healthcare software systems, and data analysis tools.

  • CCCRN - Certified Critical Care RN preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and direction for the CCU, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care in compliance with all healthcare regulations.
  • Develops and implements departmental policies and procedures to ensure clinical excellence and operational efficiency.
  • Manages the CCU budget, including staffing, equipment, and supply allocation, ensuring cost-effectiveness while maintaining quality standards.
  • Oversees the recruitment, training, and development of CCU staff, promoting a positive work environment and continuous professional development.
  • Collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Conducts regular assessments of CCU operations, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes.
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant state, federal, and accrediting body regulations, including Joint Commission standards.
  • Monitors and reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) to hospital leadership, implementing improvement initiatives as necessary.
  • Participates in strategic planning for the CCU, contributing to long-term growth and development initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
