About The Position

The Director of Credit & Accounts Receivable is a critical enterprise leadership role responsible for transforming the Company’s credit, collections, and receivables capabilities to support scalable growth, disciplined risk management, and exceptional customer experience. This role oversees a large, complex, high-volume accounts receivable portfolio and leads the evolution of credit strategy, policies, processes, systems, and analytics. The Director will act as a strategic partner to Sales, Operations, and Executive Leadership, balancing growth objectives with working capital performance and credit risk discipline. Reporting to the CFO, this leader will be accountable for driving measurable improvements in DSO, portfolio quality, bad debt, forecasting accuracy, and operational efficiency. This is a hands-on, highly visible role for a proven change agent who can set vision, execute decisively, and develop a high-performing team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or professional certifications (CPA, CCE, CFA, or similar) a plus
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in credit, accounts receivable, or related finance functions
  • Demonstrated success leading transformation initiatives involving process, systems, and organizational change
  • Proven experience managing large, complex receivables portfolios in a high-volume or growth-oriented environment
  • Deep expertise in commercial credit adjudication, risk mitigation tools, and complex credit structures
  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills with the ability to influence at the executive level
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and decision-making capabilities
  • Track record of building and leading high-performing teams and delivering measurable financial results

Responsibilities

  • Own and modernize the Company’s enterprise credit and accounts receivable strategy to enable profitable growth and effective risk management.
  • Lead the transformation of credit and collections processes, tools, analytics, and operating models to achieve best-in-class performance.
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement automation, technology solutions, and external partnerships to materially improve efficiency, controls, and visibility.
  • Provide executive oversight of a high eight-figure, high-volume A/R portfolio with accountability for DSO, aging, concentration risk, and bad debt outcomes.
  • Establish clear credit risk frameworks, approval authorities, monitoring standards, and escalation protocols.
  • Adjudicate complex and high-risk credit decisions, including special credit structures and exceptions.
  • Proactively assess portfolio trends, customer risk exposure, and macroeconomic factors to adjust strategy as needed.
  • Partner closely with Sales leadership to enable responsible customer growth while maintaining disciplined credit standards.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Legal, and Operations to align credit policies, customer onboarding, and collections practices with enterprise objectives.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on working capital optimization, credit exposure, and customer payment behavior.
  • Lead and contribute to high-impact, cross-functional initiatives and special projects aligned with company priorities.
  • Lead, develop, and scale a team of approximately 12 credit and A/R professionals through change and growth.
  • Establish clear performance expectations, accountability, and development paths to build a results-driven, customer-focused team.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, ownership, and collaboration.
  • Deliver clear, executive-level reporting on receivables performance, risk exposure, reserves, forecasts, and trends.
  • Partner with the finance team on reserve recommendations and monthly management reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal controls, and audit standards.
  • Engage internal and external legal, collections, and recovery partners as appropriate.
