About The Position

The Director, Creative & Content - US & Canada will help shape the creative, messaging, and strategic vision for US/Canada marketing campaigns. Delivering breakthrough storytelling that drives cultural relevance, brand affinity, and business results. This role is a key contributor in defining what great looks like across the full funnel, from upper-funnel consideration campaigns to demand generation. They will lead creative & messaging excellence and be well versed across the integrated marketing landscape, from paid media to social to owned & operated channels, ensuring our campaigns deliver business results. This role requires an exceptional collaborator and communicator who partners closely across the Marketing Strategy & Creative team to unify business priorities, audience insights, and marketing strategy into cohesive, strategic creative and content. A natural coach, this individual will lead a team of 3–4 direct reports, demonstrating strong, empathetic leadership while fostering growth and a healthy, high performing culture. They will manage external creative agencies in the development of breakthrough marketing campaigns in key collaboration with the needs of the full Continent Marketing team including Marketing Strategy & Creative, Field Marketing, Brand, Paid Media, and Partnership marketing. They must excel in in creative vision, social content, and paid media with a key knowledge of platforms and channels. This role must display an aptitude for strategic and creative thinking to engage travelers and drive business at every stage of their travel journey across the funnel. The ideal candidate is equal parts creative thinker and strategic leader - someone who can concept, guide, and evaluate ideas through the lens of both cultural impact and performance data. They bring experience leading concept development, directing agencies and creative talent, interpreting insights driving business results, and translating data into strategies that elevate creative impact. As part of a high-performing creative and content continent team, this leader fosters collaboration, innovation, and creative excellence while navigating a complex stakeholder environment with confidence and agility. The Director, Creative & Content should have a well-rounded approach to developing multi-million-dollar marketing campaigns expressed through all mediums including: TV, Print, OOH, Social, Influencer, Digital, Email & Experiential. This role requires expert storyteller skills and someone who can fashion award-winning narratives that build the brand through all mediums and delivers a unique experience. The job includes hands-on development to ensure that all collateral (i.e. photo-shoots, illustrations, digital imaging and the research of stock photography, etc.) follows both brand and industry standards.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of marketing or design demonstrating progressive career growth and a pattern of exceptional performance
  • 4-year degree from an accredited university in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Business, or a related major

Nice To Haves

  • Creative agency, publisher or in-house brand creative leadership experience preferred
  • Experience leading multi-million-dollar consumer marketing campaigns with a focus on TV, Print, OOH & Social
  • Demonstrated experience with digital marketing and advertising design execution
  • Demonstrated experience with Social Media marketing, content, and advertising
  • In-depth and current understanding of design trends and industry best practices

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategy and execution of holistic digital and social initiatives
  • Ensures that creative meets brand guidelines and production standards.
  • Works with a team of Social, Creative, Content, and Marketing Strategy – ensuring that each assignment attacks the business problem from different points of view while producing concepts consistent with the Continent strategy.
  • Supervises the execution of new art such as photo-shoot, illustrations, digital imaging and the research of stock photography
  • Organizes and prioritizes the creative process so the approval process will not be delayed
  • Works closely with entire internal team to develop effective, impactful ideas based on tactical plan.
  • Reviews paid media plans and results to ensure creative is aligned and driving results.
  • Oversees and implements visual strategy and workflow of digital marketing and advertising campaigns supporting the digital brand strategy.
  • Manages agency / freelance resources and oversee strategic initiatives related to digital and social strategy for assigned brands.
  • Ensures all creative efforts across the US/CAN Continent Marketing team align with global brand standards and identity.
  • Serves as subject matter expert and owns Continent Creative and Content playbooks for Field guidance.
  • Serves as manager and role model to team members and works closely on their performance and growth.
  • Develop strong relationships with Marriott subject matter experts and channel leaders, agencies, media and distribution partners to cost-effectively maximize opportunities for the brand while ensuring high-quality on-strategy creative is delivered.
  • Monitor and report out on industry best practices and competitive/landscape trends
  • Partner with internal and external PR teams to ensure tight integration and holistic campaigns.
