About The Position

This position is currently pending Police Officer/Fire Fighter (PO/FF) retirement designation approval from CalHR. Effective July 1, 2025, in accordance with the applicable Memorandum of Understanding, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented. PLP 2025 requires each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit 6, and related Excluded, Exempt and Statutory Exempt employees, will have their base salary reduced by 3 percent and will receive 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes. Part-time employees are subject to the same conditions as full-time employees, on a prorated basis equivalent to their time-base. Permanent intermittent employees are subject to the same condition as full-time employees, based on the number of hours worked in the pay period. Under the general direction of the Receiver and the Undersecretary, Health Care Services, the Director, Corrections Services is responsible for providing support to specific projects and initiatives undertaken by CCHCS for all CDCR adult institutions statewide. In coordination with CDCR, the Director is required to exercise the powers of a peace officer including the apprehension of incarcerated patients or escapees from the institutions, the transportation of those persons and the investigation of any violation of criminal law discovered while performing the authorized duties of employment. The Director has full responsibility and accountability for providing executive management to the following divisions: Health Care Facility Support which is comprised of Project and Contract Oversight, Licensing and Accreditation, and Joint Commission; and Field Operations which is comprised of : Health Care Audits Support, Health Care Policy and Litigation Support and the Health Care Access Unit (HCAU). The Director works collaboratively with health care executives in developing, directing, implementing, and providing quality assurance of the health care delivery system at the CDCR adult institutions. The Director advises CCHCS and CDCR executive leadership on major policy, program, and organizational issues, represents the Department in a variety of areas involving major policy and program issues with the CDCR, Legislature, Governor's Office, Department of Finance, other State and federal agencies, the courts, local government, the media, and constituent groups, and negotiates agreements and commits the Department to action within the limits of statutory and administrative authority. If this position is approved for the PO/FF designation, it is eligible for the Rentention Incentive Pay Differential (2/2/2) for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and California Correctional Health Care Services. This pay differential will be applied to the selected candidate's base salary if they meet the eligibility criteria.
