About The Position

The Director - Corporate Real Estate & Facilities, is responsible for executing the enterprise strategy for all credit union facilities and real estate across a national footprint. This leader ensures that all locations support the organization’s brand, member experience and operational efficiency while maintaining the highest standards of safety, security, and regulatory compliance. The Director leads the strategic planning, design, construction and maintenance of all corporate and retail facilities, including more than 70 branch locations, regional hubs and the corporate offices. This role partners closely with executive leadership, finance, legal, risk, technology, and operations teams to align facilities and security strategies with long-term organizational goals, growth initiatives, and member experience priorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, Business, or related field required; advanced degree or professional certification preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in facilities, real estate, construction, or corporate property management.
  • Experience leading multi-state or national portfolios preferred.
  • Experience in financial services, retail banking, or similarly regulated environments preferred.
  • Demonstrated success managing large capital budgets, complex projects, and external vendor relationships.
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience with responsibility for multiple teams or functions.
  • Executive-level knowledge of real estate strategy, facilities operations, construction, and physical security.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing operating and capital budgets.
  • Proven ability to lead enterprise-wide initiatives and influence senior leadership.
  • Excellent project and program management skills across complex, multi-site environments.
  • Strong vendor negotiation and performance management capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, including executive and board-level presentations.
  • Ability to lead through change, scale operations, and build high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrates behaviors consistent with the credit union’s values, leadership principles, and service culture.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including strong verbal and written communications.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes a multi-year enterprise real estate and facilities strategy aligned with the credit union’s growth, efficiency, and member experience objectives.
  • Leads all aspects of site selection, design, construction, renovation, and occupancy for new and existing facilities across a national footprint.
  • Establishes branch and corporate design standards that reflect brand, culture, and evolving member and employee needs.
  • Partners with executive leadership on long-range planning, footprint optimization, and capital investment decisions.
  • Oversees lease negotiations, property acquisitions, and dispositions in partnership with Legal and Finance.
  • Provides executive oversight of multiple complex capital projects simultaneously, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities, timelines, and budgets.
  • Directs all property management functions, including building operations, maintenance, vendor management, and capital planning.
  • Establishes performance metrics and service standards to ensure high-quality, cost-effective facility operations.
  • Ensures facilities are safe, efficient, and compliant with all regulatory, environmental, and accessibility requirements.
  • Leads enterprise sustainability, energy management, and workplace optimization initiatives where appropriate.
  • Develops and leads the enterprise physical security strategy across all locations, ensuring the safety of employees, members, and assets.
  • Oversees security systems, access control, surveillance, alarm systems, and related technologies.
  • Partners with Risk, Compliance, and IT Security to align physical and information security strategies.
  • Leads incident response planning, business continuity support, and crisis management related to facilities and security.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable regulatory and safety standards.
  • Develops and manages the enterprise facilities and security operating and capital budgets.
  • Monitors financial performance, analyzes variances, and provides regular updates to executive leadership.
  • Leads strategic sourcing, contract negotiations, and vendor performance management for construction, maintenance, and security partners.
  • Drives cost efficiency, service quality, and operational effectiveness across the portfolio.
  • Provides strategic leadership to a multi-disciplinary team responsible for facilities, real estate, and physical security.
  • Builds a high-performing, service-oriented team culture focused on execution, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Recruits, develops, and mentors leaders and staff to build organizational capability and succession strength.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally to ensure facilities and security solutions support business operations and employee experience.
