About The Position

The Director, Corporate Engagement - Business Development (EOI) will serve as an expert salesperson within Year Up United’s Corporate Engagement function, which works to secure high quality, work-based experiences for all Year Up United students and to develop partnerships with major corporations nationwide. Reporting to the Sr. Director, Corporate Engagement – Business Development (EOI), this role will personally implement work on the ground dedicated to building brand new relationships that yield internship placements with Employers of Influence (EOI) partners, those who are able to take 25+ Year Up United interns per cycle, across three or more geographies. The Director will work with major Fortune 500 corporations in need of entry-level talent to provide trained, high-potential young adults with high-quality internships, and will ensure a program of support and professional development for these young adults on their internships. The ideal candidate should desire to leverage their demonstrated experience in sales, strategy, and business development practices within our mission-driven social enterprise. The impact of this role be measured by growth of our Employers of Influence (EOIs) partners and achievement of KPIs related to developing leads, presenting to C-suite staff, closing revenue, and handing client relationships over to colleagues. In keeping with Year Up United’s values, the Director of CE, Business Development will also have the opportunity to interact with students as coach, group facilitator, and advocate, participating in creating and sustaining a positive educational environment, with trust among students, program managers, and site leaders.

Requirements

  • At least 10+ years of professional experience in strategic account management and/or sales to enterprise-level accounts (e.g. sales, client service, development)
  • Consultative sales approach experience
  • Demonstrated ability to generate leads, close business, and manage annual sales targets of $5M+
  • Documented strengths in meaningful relationship building
  • Demonstrated ability to set direction and manage projects and processes
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • A professional and resourceful style with the ability to work independently and as a team player, to take initiative, and to manage multiple tasks and projects at a time
  • Ability to collaborate across teams, facilitate difficult conversations, and resolve issues
  • Ability to lead, willingness to be led, and comfort with situational leadership
  • Consummate networking skills with an ability to move comfortably and credibly in the community
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office required, familiarity with Salesforce.com helpful

Responsibilities

  • New Business Development and Relationship Management Manage a portfolio of target EOI accounts and drive external activity and top-down sales.
  • Review personal pipeline monthly to add or remove target accounts.
  • Meet or exceed performance indicators: number of meetings with executives per month; cross-selling of other Year Up United offerings; internship placements and revenue from new partners; etc.
  • Regularly attend networking or industry events to acquire new leads for self or colleagues.
  • Create and share effective proposals featuring Year Up United’s model and past successes for solving corporate entry-level talent needs with Employers of Influence within EOIs team.
  • Oversee logistics related to client accounts: craft account specific-playbooks for other Corporate Engagement colleagues to run with after pilot phase.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with industry influencers and key strategic partners Engage with C-level executives and decision-makers in a variety of formal and informal settings
  • Site Team/Learning Community Member Serve as a coach/mentor for a small number of current students
  • Join and sometimes facilitate weekly group sessions with students
  • Participate in staff meetings and trainings
