About The Position

Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Director – Construction Management to lead the delivery of large‑scale, mission‑critical data center construction programs across North America. The Director will act as the senior owner’s representative, responsible for program governance, construction strategy, risk management, and client leadership, ensuring delivery excellence across cost, schedule, quality, safety, and operational readiness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 12+ years of construction, project, or program management experience.
  • 2+ years leading large‑scale programs within a professional services or consulting environment.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering mission‑critical or data center construction programs.
  • Proven leadership across integrated project delivery teams.
  • Experience negotiating and managing multi‑million‑dollar construction contracts.
  • Track record delivering complex programs on budget, on schedule, and in compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Strong executive‑level communication, stakeholder, and client‑management skills.
  • Willingness to be site‑engaged, as required by program needs.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary client relationship executive for data center construction programs.
  • Lead strategic discussions related to delivery models, phasing strategies, risk tolerance, and operational constraints.
  • Act as the senior escalation point for construction, schedule, cost, quality, safety, and commercial risks.
  • Provide executive‑level reporting, forecasting, and decision support to client leadership.
  • Ensure owner‑representation staffing models align with program scale and delivery complexity.
  • Provide governance across multiple data center projects or campuses within a single program.
  • Oversee development and execution of the Program Management Plan (PMP) aligned to mission‑critical delivery requirements.
  • Ensure integration of civil, structural, architectural, MEP, electrical, and commissioning scopes into a cohesive master schedule.
  • Oversee the review and validation of contractor schedules, ensuring alignment with contractual milestones and turnover requirements.
  • Establish standardized approaches for constructability reviews, site logistics, and phasing strategies.
  • Oversee preconstruction planning including constructability, modularization strategies, long‑lead procurement, and risk mitigation.
  • Lead Value Engineering and cost‑reduction strategies without compromising uptime, redundancy, or resiliency.
  • Provide oversight of design development to ensure alignment with data center standards, power and cooling strategies, and scalability requirements.
  • Lead risk identification for cost, schedule, and supply‑chain constraints typical of mission‑critical environments.
  • Provide executive oversight of construction execution with emphasis on safety, quality, system integrity, and schedule certainty.
  • Ensure strong HSE leadership, reinforcing a zero‑incident culture across all sites.
  • Oversee commissioning planning, sequencing, and execution in coordination with GC, OEMs, commissioning agents, and operations teams.
  • Ensure readiness for beneficial use, phased turnover, and operational handover.
  • Review and support resolution strategies for change orders, claims, and commercial disputes.
  • Lead and mentor construction and project management professionals across the program.
  • Monitor Turner & Townsend team performance to ensure high‑quality client delivery and efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with cost, scheduling, commercial, and procurement leadership to deliver integrated outcomes.
  • SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.
