Join us as we build a knowledgeable and collaborative team that courageously changes how transit projects will be delivered. We are hiring two Directors, Ontario Line, with complementary leadership responsibilities across construction delivery and project integration. These senior leadership roles will play a critical part in delivering one of Canada’s largest transit infrastructure projects. Director, Ontario Line – Construction Delivery Focus As a Director, you will provide strategic leadership across complex civil construction packages, overseeing safe and efficient delivery from construction execution through commissioning. You will be accountable for construction performance, schedule and program management, cost and risk mitigation, and contractor oversight, working closely with delivery partners and internal teams to ensure work is executed safely, on time, and within budget. The role requires strong experience in major infrastructure construction, the ability to lead multidisciplinary delivery teams, and a results-driven approach in a fast-paced, highly complex project environment. Director, Ontario Line – Assurance, Integration & Handover Focus As a Director, you will provide strategic leadership across assurance, integration, interfaces, and readiness for handover on complex civil construction packages. You will be accountable for interface coordination, assurance requirements, integration across multiple work packages, and commissioning and handover to operations, working closely with contractors, delivery partners, and internal and external stakeholders to ensure project outcomes are achieved. The role requires strong experience in major infrastructure projects, a collaborative leadership style, and the ability to manage complex interfaces and stakeholder relationships across a highly integrated delivery environment.

Requirements

  • Completion of a degree in Engineering /Architecture or a related discipline or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience in capital project management and implementation, including at least five years of experience managing large, complex, multi-year transit projects
  • Strong Project management skills and experience to provide senior leadership and oversight to staff and cross-functional project teams within budget and schedule restraints and monitor project performance against business objectives.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of construction engineering, construction processes and value engineering
  • Strong problem solving and influencing skills to establish effective working relationships, negotiate, and deal with a variety of contacts, both internal and external to the organization; along with the ability to gain cooperation from individuals not under direct authority.
  • Extensive knowledge of financial theories, principles and practices, procurement, fiscal planning, modern controllership frameworks and the overall business planning, estimates, expenditure, and allocations plan processes; understanding of the decision-making processes to develop appropriate strategic approaches to capital funding
  • Proven ability to manage multiple direct reports in an operational or construction environment is required
  • Expertise in leading change and ensuring effective risk management analysis, status reporting and issues management processes are in place
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strategic relationships in order to work across division and with internal and external stakeholders/clients

Nice To Haves

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the Province of Ontario or Architect (O.A.A) in the Province of Ontario is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Alternative Finance Procurement/P3 method is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver project from initial conception and procurement through commissioning and transfer to Operations within scope, on budget and on schedule, in accordance with good project management and construction practices; ensures compliance with Metrolinx and other related design standards and applicable municipal, provincial and federal codes
  • Manage complex project issues and risks, facilitates effective conflict resolution, communicates with internal and external stakeholders and manages their expectations
  • Monitor objectives related to engineering, design standards, design review, technical specifications, document control, budget and work breakdown structures, project schedules, resource prioritization, and staffing requirements.
  • Ensure that contractors’ construction plans and schedules are complete, workable, and in accordance with contract documents; Oversee contractors’ compliance to contract provisions, including monitoring safety, quality, environmental compliance, cost, and schedule performance.
  • Ensures proper ongoing communication and consultation with external stakeholders, particularly the TTC and City of Toronto and elected officials, including with agencies, utility companies, etc. in defining requirements, developing project implementation plans and ensuring compliance
  • Manages activities within budget allocations and schedules; provides timely reporting of financial and performance results and any significant cost, security, safety, human resources, or project management issues
