About The Position

The Waymo Driver has provided over ten million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving over 100 million miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 15+ U.S. states. Hardware Engineering is a diverse, innovative, and collaborative group of electrical, mechanical, reliability, software and vehicle engineers. We design, build, and perfect the products which are the eyes and ears of Waymo's autonomous driving technology, and integrate those products into vehicle platforms. We're seeking curious and talented teammates to keep us moving in the right direction. In this role, you will be reporting to the Director of Platform Integration Engineering.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience in Automotive Engineering/Product Development
  • 10+ years experience working in advanced architectural vehicle development
  • Proven ability to create and negotiate targets and requirements with OEMs and partner companies/suppliers
  • Experience operating at a senior level in a relevant company/domain
  • Experience communicating with clarity and capability when interfacing with C-Suite Executives
  • Ability to work in an ambiguous world and find a path forward to resolve seemingly conflicting requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Masters degree is preferred
  • Experience in the future mobility sector, e.g. outside of the traditional OEM/personal car ownership model
  • Experience in more than one OEM, to give a broader perspective of Product Development methodologies
  • Experience of architectural layout of electric vehicles
  • Knowledge of the Autonomous Vehicle sector and how it is shaping future mobility

Responsibilities

  • Have ownership of whole vehicle architecture, layout and packaging development
  • Work on concept feasibility in early/advanced design stage through to vehicle development and OEM liaison
  • Partner with peers on the development of unique, customer focused mobility package solutions and ergonomic interior designs for an international customer base
  • Lead the geometric development and modeling of the vehicle package architecture (Catia V6/3Dx)
  • Lead the early property development/ physical model/package buck build to allow experiential interaction with the evolving architecture
  • Provide regular updates to the Executive Leadership Team
