About The Position

As a Director of Component Safety and Quality Improvement, use technical experience to lead the strategy. This strategy spans across all component manufacturing plants, aiming to improve the NSC environment, personnel safety, and product quality. We target improvements at all stages, from design through manufacturing and during operation. You will report to the VP, Global Components Manufacturing and Engineering and be located at any Westinghouse location in the United States in a hybrid role.

Requirements

  • Related Bachelor's required, Advanced degree preferred
  • 15+ years' experience in leadership with a background in design engineering and manufacturing technologies·
  • Detailed knowledge of NSSS Components such as Steam Generators, Reactor Vessels, Control Rod Drive Mechanisms, and Fuel Handling Equipment· Detailed knowledge of manufacturing processes and techniques
  • Experience in the nuclear power industry and a history of Nuclear Safety Culture
  • Experience leading large numbers of people
  • Experience working on advanced technology projects
  • Experience with both engineering and manufacturing preferred
  • Experience with Quality or EHS preferred
  • Certified Safety Professional certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Improve Nuclear & Personnel Safety Culture across CME spanning over 1,000 people made up of skilled and unskilled workers.
  • As part of improving first pass quality, lead the strategy development for factories to employ the latest manufacturing processes and capabilities. Specify factory tooling, arrangement, and infrastructure to use AI, robotics, automation, and advanced machinery to ensure high quality, efficient production.
  • Develop and implement design change strategies across multiple engineering departments to make safety and quality easier during fabrication, installation, and maintenance
  • Develop a multi-year strategy to use technology, including AI, to identify safety improvements
  • Improve safety behaviors across knowledge and skilled workers
