About The Position

The Director of Community Relations & Events serves as a vital link between the North Carolina Football Club, its partners, and community organizations. This role focuses on enhancing community engagement through strategic program development, fostering relationships, and promoting the club's brand within the Triangle community. The position requires a proactive leader who can manage community relations initiatives, oversee a team, and represent the club at various events, ensuring alignment with the club's mission and values.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with 10+ years in a relevant field.
  • Strong understanding of the connection between a professional sports team and its community.
  • Excellent community-building skills and ability to work collaboratively across functions.
  • Knowledge of the soccer community and the Triangle Region of North Carolina.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.
  • Ability to balance short-term wins with long-term vision and goals.
  • Desire to learn and grow, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Expertise in social and digital media performance standards.
  • Well-developed teamwork and coaching skills, with a focus on talent development.
  • Organized and flexible, able to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in sports management or community relations within a sports context.
  • Familiarity with local community organizations and initiatives.
  • Proficiency in additional languages.

Responsibilities

  • Create and develop an internal community relations strategy to support the club's brand.
  • Implement community programs aligned with team/player priorities throughout the season.
  • Oversee community relations programs related to corporate partner agreements from ideation to execution.
  • Manage the community relations team, including coordinators and interns.
  • Liaise with Marketing and Communications to integrate community engagement strategies.
  • Coordinate with player operations to enhance player involvement in community events.
  • Prepare and manage budgets and resources for community initiatives.
  • Represent the club at community events and build relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Serve as the community relations contact for NWSL and USL, leading league-wide initiatives.
  • Track community events to ensure club representation and respond to inquiries from community members.
